Kel Tec KSG

Anyone have any experience with the newer versions? I know kel Tec doesn't brand their guns with generations rather just update them but has anyone got one recently and how was the experience? I want to get one but want to be assured they've dealt with the kinks

I bought one in *corrected* September of last year. Ended up selling it on here but it seems like most of the kinks had been worked out. Still had to rack it with authority but it was a fun range gun. Build quality was passable but still typical Kel-Tec eh. I think the most recent ones will have an upgraded top rail which will go a long way to the overall quality and feel of the shotgun as the old ones where cheap quality.

I picked one up about 6 weeks ago. I had been waiting for the initial problems to be addressed and for the "scalper prices" to come down. While it has the appearance of a cheaply made gun, it cycles smoothly and everything works perfectly. The bore certainly isn't a shiny and smooth as I'd like - but that hasn't been any problem as accuracy was excellent.

I ran 50 rounds of Estate #8 dove loads that I'd converted to wax slugs and had no failures of any kind. For me, the gun handles and shoots much better than I'd anticipated. While I was initially a bit worried, I'm now very fond of the KSG and am glad that I decided to pick one up. I still don't have a very good opinion of other KelTec guns, but the KSG is an exception.

For transport, I picked up a Condor Take-down single strap carry bag and it fits just perfect - so long as there are no extended muzzle devices or extra-length recoil pads.

I have a ksg love it. Had a few 870 and even a benelli. Sold them aftet getting the ksg. I have a gen 2 and it has been flawless through 2k rounds of buck and slugs

I bought a gen 2 ksg during black Friday last year. $905 OTD. I think a lot of the problems were user error due to short stroke. I did do a lot of upgrades on it. I added a alloy bottom rail, muzzle break, stainless steel follower, extended tube selector, red dot and magpul mbus.

I bought one (latest production)about 3 weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I'm already thinking it is going to have to be sent back for repair. Both tubes are ridiculously difficult to load. Sometimes it loads no problem, then it seems as if the follower is binding. A shell will go half in and then just stop and refuse to go in. Also the left tube doesn't always release a shell into the lifter. It usually happens right around the 3rd or 4th shell. Follower seems to be binding. Doesn't matter how forcefully I rack it.

Dam shame Mossberg or Remington won't make a shotgun like this. Keltec has some great ideas but their QC still sucks.

Thanks guys so seems like all the gen 1 kinks are taken care of? Can anyone confirm if there is a gen 3 or not? I see people selling them online claiming they're gen 3's? NoHeavyHitter 6weeks isn't very long ago was yours on the shelf a while or did you order it online?

The UTS-15 was originally designed for Mossberg or Remington, I forget which (American Rifleman did a review on it a couple of years back and mentioned it, I just forget which it was). They ultimately passed on it, so UTAS said "screw it" and went ahead and manufactured it themselves. Shotgun companies are notoriously conservative in their product design.

After researching my issue online the problem doesn't seem to be isolated. Others have had the same issue. Like other Keltec modele it seems to be hit or miss whether you get one that works.

NoHeavyHitter 6weeks isn't very long ago was yours on the shelf a while or did you order it online?

It was off-the-shelf, but I got it from a small dealer who gets small batches and sells out very quick as his pricing is good. He only had it maybe 2 weeks before I got it - because when I finally decided to roll the dice on one, I had to wait for him to get more in stock.

I love mine. Best gun purchase I've made in years. I did replace the followers with stainless and the selector lever with an extended version. It's perfect now. Funny thing is I replaced my Mossberg stamped metal follower with a plastic hi vis one...

Not a fan of a forward vertical grip. I do like the angled forward grip like
Hickok45 has on his KSG.

Hickok shows us how a shotgun with a good site can be a good hunting gun when using Slugs. The KSG with good sites would makes a compact package
that offers 14 rounds. Inside a nice Grab and go zippered bag you're covered for
Just about anything. Prices are down and it's a good time to pick one up.
