Are you using gravel and ground glass instead of shot?

I remember vendors selling shotgun shells cheap at the Miramar Trap & Skeet Club when it was open, call other clubs and ask if they have a member who sells ammo. Another option is to take the initiative and start a group buy, and get payments in advance, I know I'll buy some.

        Good idea!

Who is interested in a group buy?
I can see what I can put together.

Dependent on the $ per box, and minimum quantity; I'd be down.
I tend to blow through shotgun target ammo like nothing.

Welcome to my world! I live in San Diego and work in Carlsbad. I just started competing this past summer so I am practicing and competing and working towards winning a belt buckle all on a budget. I buy whatever is on sell but I practice with the same size shell that I shoot with. I always shoot with 7 1/2 1 1/2 oz 1200 fps. If there are only #8s and the shells are on sell, then I will buy them, but I try to keep 7 1/2 on stock. I try to keep 1,000 2,000 rounds on hand or buy a value pack every payday from walk mart. I buy from Cabelas because I like the way the shells hit hard and they have $5 or free shipping w/ $99 or more. Current special is $5 shipping w. $99 or more. flats are $52.99 for Herter's and there is a Federal blue box #8 that is 7/8 oz for 49.99 a flat.

You used to be able to order at walmart online ,,, or at the store and get free shipping to the store at the on the shelf price... Miwall at the gunshow usually had decent prices on cases too.. Bass pro has some sales if your close to a store,, I don't know if they sell online and ship free to the store on ammo.. Big 5 usually has good sales in August just before Dove season... Cases in the garage is always a good thing !!!.. Cheers..

Will have to see you is interested and what they are interested in.
I see two different possibilities. Low cost (promo) or high quality at a good price (AA).
On the low cost end, I do not think it would be worth doing if the price is greater then $4.50 a box.
Of course there is also the payload (how much lead and size) and speed to consider also.
To drive a low price only a handful of options would be available.

They've got to a flat rate $7.50 shipping offer, but if you do the math, you're better off buying during the sales. In February, they had the sales and flat rate shipping at the same time, which was nice.
Is someone preventing you to be a first time buyer? I buy there constantly and no one objected me to be one. I think, when i buy for $300-400 each time, i deserve to be a "First Time buyer", or at least have same privileges/discounts, don't i?

J&S Wholesale will sell you ammo by the case or by the pallet or truckload..

They sell several types of shotshell ammo.. Most serious competition shotgun shooters tend to buy things by the pallet.. if you get a few people together, I'm sure you can easily get in on a deal for a large volume..
