If you are reloading 12 or 20 gauge lead target loads and happen with the performance of promotional loads sold at places like Walmart, it is difficult to save much using new components.

Now if we are talking about other gauges, non-toxic shot, buck-shot/slugs, or specialty loads, that is another story.

I like all the ammosupplywarehouse.com plugs. I highly recommend them.
It was just an old plywood boat, with a '75 Johnson, with electric choke. A young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel.

          Walmart.
I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.

Another place to try (when they run shipping deals) is Ableammo.com. They stock the regular RemFedChester shells, plus all kinds of ones you don't ordinarily see (Fiocchi, Bornaghi, Cheddite) and REALLY unusual (24 and 32 gauge, anyone?). I dont have to ship from them, as I'm a bit over an hour and a half from their store, but they run deals, and they run a lot of case deals. They're VERY shotgun-oriented. Good folks to deal with. Their store is amazing with pallets of different shotshells taking up major floor space, and they are a Beretta master-level dealer (yes, the drool-worthy SO-series ones, too)

Cabelas usually always has a shipping promo for freight and usually always selling a decent brand of 12G target for cheap.

Herter's is a great deal there.

Consistently good prices for 1oz #8 for cheaper and faster shipping than most other places. I try to buy 2k at a time.

If you like watching for sales, you can also try Midway USA. I've seen them sell Winchester AA for $55-60 per flat. You can probably sell the hulls for a decent penny if you don't reload.
I second Ammosupplywarehouse.com. They are in LV so the shipping to CA is fast and economical. Order process quickly and every transaction has been smooth for me. Great deals on 00, slugs and bird shot and 9mm. I have saved a chunk of $$$ buying through them vs. local here in CA.

Off topic, I like Freedom Munitions for pistol calibers. Good prices, especially if you watch for the 5% off sales on your cartridge, as it offsets the shipping.

They have free shipping, don't they? So, there is nothing to offset, pure savings.

If you want cheap slugs, you can buy the cheapest birdshot that you can get, melt the shot, cast 1 oz slugs with a lee mold and use them in the hulls. I`ve been doing this for a while since slugs are a buck a pop on average...

I haven't seen the "free shipping" offer in a while, except for first time buyers.

They've got to a flat rate $7.50 shipping offer, but if you do the math, you're better off buying during the sales. In February, they had the sales and flat rate shipping at the same time, which was nice.
