Browning Citori.. How'd I do?

Survey this site and others. A substantial majority of the sellers claim the guns have "just a box or two through it" or "only 100 rounds down the pipe" or something similar. How many people go to all the trouble to buy it and then sell it after what must have been a very light day of shooting at the range?

Buyer beware. If it sounds to good to be true.......

Meh I buy guns all the time that may only make it out of the safe once if at all before I become interested in something else and sell to fund that.

That said I wouldn't ever part with my citoris, OP I'm sure you will be happy with it.

Sounds like a good deal. As the years pass, what's $50 or $100 anyway? If you are happy with it, who cares if it was a steal.

Steel Shot and fixed chokes killed the value of the old Brownings....

That only softened prices for the rest of us to take advantage of. OP got a pretty good deal if the gun is as described. Steel shot in that gun is just fine if you open the chokes or fit screw chokes. My first Citori was a heavily used early-mid 70's gun that I bought around 1996. Had Colonial choke tubes fitted, and it was primary duck/goose gun for several years with no real issues other than a sticky safety from sand infiltration. That gun is now over 40 years old, and it's in the truck for every single hunting trip. Last fall it shot Remington Hypersonic Steel on duck hunts and bagged a limit of doves with cheapo steel field loads. It's really hard to go wrong with a Citori. Even though I prefer Berettas for just about everything else, the Citori is my O/U of choice for ducks.

That's a good price. A good friend of mine spend $1,500 for a similar used Browning. It has served him well.

When closed, the lever should never go past the center line of the action. This is what a brand new gun looks like.

That's the lever for opening the barrels. It starts to right of center and "wears" to center.

If the gun looks only slightly used, no worries. These guns are good for 100k+ rounds before any attention in that regards. It's pretty hard to get 100k rounds without the cosmetics showing it.

I think I understand. So the lever in the picture is to the right like that and as the gun is used, the resting place (?) for the lever will slowly continue to work its way toward the middle of the gun?

Yes after about 30 to 40,000 rounds.
