I just jailed a Tactical...almost all good reviews, 'cept for a design issue with the bolt release function that some people have encountered.

If you are remotely thinking about using it for 3-gun, get the Competition model so you can have a longer barrel and vent rib fiber optic sights vs ghost rings.

I was reading up on them too because I was interested in the Tactical.

Seems the rear sight/rail is mostly plastic and feels cheap.

Big advantage of the competition models is the ability to use chokes.

Competition model also comes with an oversized ejection port which the tactical does not.

Supposed to be great guns, if you've ever messed with any of Beretta's shotguns you know that a good amount of craftsmanship went into them. Reports are they kick a bit hard with tactical loads due to their non adjustable gas system, but Limbsaver makes a compatible pad that is a breeze to install.

Mine shot the low brass wallyworld crap right out of the box. It's only other ammo to be fed sofar is 9 pellet buckshot. Worked fine with that too. I didn't really notice the recoil....it's less than my Mossberg 500, so I'm happy.

Haven't run slugs, don't really have any intention to either... If I do, I'm sure it'll handle them fine.

Put a Nordic Comp +2 tube extender and a red dot on it; you're done.

The bolt release 'issue' is just training and easily dealt with. IIRC, you can get a button from one of the other Beretta shotguns and swap out the paddle release.

kick eez kz109 is a direct replacement. It's a great shotgun. I threw on a light mod ext choke and was crushing sporting clays. Only two problems, the excess recoil gets annoying after 100 rounds and it does not cycle 1oz loads under 1200fps reliably.

Not an issue. The 1301 is a great shotgun, very reliable, light, and fast handling. I love mine.

This shotgun jams to the point where it needs to be disassembled when it is loaded, and then a large button is somehow pressed or hits a barrier/wall.

the police force that purchased this weapon made a mistake. Doesn't mean the OP should.

If this is for 3-gun....go for it. If it's for defense...stay away until it's resolved by Beretta.
