New Benelli M4 range report

Some guy listed an M1 for sale on ARFCOM, and I was first to say "I'll take it." Dude doesn't want to ship to CA, however. Said it was the "jackasses" at his local shop that wouldn't do it, so I quickly googled three other gun shops in his area for him. Never heard back.

I'm gonna get my Benelli fix sooner or later, man....

Subsolar, if you're going to ASR sometime Sunday in January, can you PM me or Black Majik? We're there almost every Sunday. I'd like to take a look at an M4 in person, if possible.

Alright, I may go the weekend after new year's, not sure if saturday or sunday though, yet. Why do you guys go on Sunday and not Saturday? What do you guys shoot?

It came with one choke and a wrench. Apparently they used to come with 3 chokes but lately only come with one. I believe it comes with a modified choke. Seems to be a good compromise, works well with 00, slugs, etc.

Mine came with 1 as well when I purchased it almost 2 years ago. The book says 3, so I emailed Benelli and they sent me the other 2

Dunno why. Sundays have usually been our range days ever since SGVGC. We could do either day, actually. Rich (BM) and I are going on a hunt this coming weekend, so the earliest we can go to ASR again is the weekend you mentioned.

We usually bring pistols, rifles, and shotguns. We set up near the clay thrower on the pistols/shotguns/rifles side, all the way to the right, so we can shoot all three types of firearms. If you've ever seen three Asian dudes (me, BM, and Beetle Bailey) shooting pistols at the 100 yd. silhouettes, that's us.

I'm Asian too. I usually don't shoot clays there, they are kind of simple compared to Prado. I also have a new LMT AR-15 I just got a couple months ago. I usually shoot my Sigs at the silhouettes too.

You have'nt even found one to look at?

It's a very high quality shotgun...I found it odd that I was required to put it together out of the box.

Do Remingtons and Mossbergs come put together? Anyway, I just called Benelli, she said that they only come with one choke now. She said about 4 years ago they came with 3 but they changed.

My 870 police was fully assembled when it arrive....I did however take it apart when I got it home.

Interesting, wonder if their 1100 and 1187's come assembled. Anyway, it doesn't matter too much to me, all guns I buy I field strip and smother with Weapon Shield, to prevent rust and lube up. I should probably detail strip each gun and coat it, to prevent corrosion, but I'm too lazy.

That would sound like a good day, Kenny is looking to break in his 870HD on the 4th before BRI.

Damn, if I look closely at a M4 I might want one too.

Hmm, that's weird! I can only fit four of the Federal 00 and slugs. I can fit 5 birdshot though. If you check this pictures, it shows the Federal being longer than the others:



Someone else also says in the thread that he can fit more of the Hornady's (http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/show...hlight=hornady)

Mine will only take 4 Federal 00's as in the photo............I wonder why that is?

The M4s still come with the big red limiter that also act as a follower in the shell tube anymore?

Unscrew you shell tube and see what kinda follower you have, remove the long red follower stick and replace it with a normal follower cap and you can get one extra shell in there.

I don't think there's a limiter, cause I can hold 5 shells of birdshot. I think a limiter would limit it to 3 shells cause that's the limit for hunting. There is a red thing in the magazine tube but I believe that's normal? Isn't the red thing to show you that it's empty? Not sure why tyrist can fit more, machining tolerances maybe?

Well, it definitely has a red follower, maybe it is a newer design and the reason why it will only accecpt 4 of the slightly longer Federals as opposed to the earlier follower that allows 5?

18 - Follower

New geometry allows for smooth loading in standard and adverse conditions. The empty magazine may be checked visually (red color) or by touch (raised ring).
