    HD Shotgun for A female?

Co-worker of mine was asking me for a recommendation.

Remington has a 870 HD model in 20 ga.

12 ga. actually isn't all that bad, there are a quite variety of loads available. The reduced recoil loads are quite comfortable to shoot. Maybe something to consider. Light target loads may also be beneficial for practice.

That's what I was thinking too... any recoil reducer will work

+1 for the 870 HD model in 20 ga.

one, two, MAYBE 3 shots in a robbery scenario.

A standard 18" 870 express in 12 ga with some reduced recoil federal flitewad loads.

Is the user someone who knows guns and is willing to practice regularly? If not, I'd recommend a semi-auto 20g over a pump, as there's less to go wrong once it's well tested with the ammo to be used.

If they're willing to practice regularly enough to get the muscle memory down, a pump may be a good bet.

If it's someone who's not a gun person and doesn't practice a lot, I'd give them a revolver before any long gun.

+2 for the Remington 870 20 gauge with #3 buckshot.

I have one of these with a 21" Rem-Choke barrel. Great shotgun. Recoil isn't quite as serious as the 12ga, plus it seems to point well.

With #3 buckshot (18 .25 caliber pellets) it works as a shred o'matic at indoor ranges.

Remington 870 /w Knoxx SpecOps stock and 12g 00 buck....... and the most important thing - range time/practice. Become confident in the firearm you are defending your life with!

How about a Mossberg 505 20ga. youth or a Remington 870 20ga. Jr. Both of these shotguns have a pull of 12". I bought my wife the Mossberg she is very comfortable with the overall smaller size and shorter reach to the forend.

+1 on the 20 gauge, depending on her size possibly a youth model and if $$ permits a semi-automatic. Oh and a 20" or shorter barrel.

Depending on her size and willingness to practice and if she's not a sissy a 12 gauge 870HD. If she's not big, doesn't want to practice and kind of a sissy a Remington 11-87 youth in 20 gauge or 870 youth in 20 gauge with the 21" barrel.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

                          shotgun

Remington 870 or 1187 in 20 Gauge. Most women have considerably less body
mass than a man. Less weight to absorb recoil. Therefore a 20 makes more sense. In a home defense scenario, the extra power of a 12 is unneccessary.
Using terms like "sissy" is just plain nonsense, when refering to a smaller or weaker person!

+100 ... limb savers, speed feeds, etc etc... not that helpful really.

The Knoxx comp is the only thing ( that I have found) that makes enough difference that would help a smaller framed woman shoot a 12g will some comfort.

20 gauge is more than enough for home defense. I've killed tougher animals than people with one, no problem.
