****ty ksg shotgun and customer support

I purchased a ksg used after shooting it I noticed the foregrip had cracked at the top on either side. I tried emailing tech support It took about 2 weeks for the the tech to tell me that because it was purchased used there was nothing that they could do. So I tried the keltec Facebook page. Another 2 weeks and I finally got an email from another person who seems to half heartedly care. I haven't heard anything in 2 weeks.<br />
I can't believe a company of this size has such bad customer support

did they offer to sell you the replacement part that you need?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Haven't really gotten that far. This has been going on since August 15. I keep getting shifted from person to person.
I have been talking to the service manager. But he hasn't replied to my last 2 emails on September 2

I have been to the business with a gun problem, they fixed it in 45 minutes while I waited, plus they replaced other parts they saw were worn, fired two mags to make sure it was good, cleaned it, gave it back to me at no charge. I would call them instead of emailing.

        This is from their website:

        Hello from Kel-Tec!

We wanted to take a minute to update all of our Kel-Tec customers about what we term "second owner responsibilities" in regards to our lifetime warranty. Since the founding of Kel-Tec we've always had a lifetime warranty that technically applied to original owners only. We have never actually enforced this rule and would accept all Kel-Tec weapons under this lifetime warranty regardless of ownership.

As the years pass and more and more Kel-Tec weapons enter circulation, the cost of offering a blanket lifetime warranty increases drastically. To stave off some of these costs, we have officially decided to enforce our lifetime warranty, which applies only to the original owner of the firearm.

That said, all Kel-Tec owners may still enjoy great service, however if you are not the original owner we will ask that shipping be paid in addition to a flat $40.00 labor fee. Depending on the severity of the repair we may need to charge for parts as well. This applies only to those who are NOT the original owner of their weapon.

As a courtesy we have decided to grandfather those who have already been through the repair system as original owners. So if your weapon has already been in to us prior to this implementation, we will still treat you as the original owner even if you are not.

In order to prove original ownership we will need a copy of the bill of sale in the owner's name, or a copy of the form 4473 that was filled out with the firearm when it is sent in. Indication of the date of purchase must be included. If you have trouble obtaining these items, please call in to our customer service and we will see what can be done to help you.

As yet another courtesy, we may be able to reimburse up to $35.00 of shipping charges IF the difficulty can be duplicated by Kel-Tec (be sure you aren't limp-wristing before sending your weapon in) and the following criteria are met:
Shipping refund requests must be provided in writing, along with a copy of the original shipping receipt, and must accompany both the firearm and the bill of sale at the time of service. The firearm must meet Kel-Tec's criteria and be approved by the servicing gunsmith before eligibility will be considered.

Additionally, most FFL holders or licensed gunsmiths can ship a firearm back to the manufacturer via a US Mail one rate box for significantly less than a civilian can. We highly suggest going that route for sending weapons in as it is the least cost prohibitive.
If you have any questions please call our customer service at 321-631-0068 or 1-800-515-9983.

You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.

quite a few people here were thinking about buying a couple of those but I guess we'll hold off until we hear back on how things go for you.

this is just my opinion but I know I hold firearms to a higher standard than a lot of companies. they have always been highly durable goods and that particular shotgun model is not a very inexpensive model, where you could forgive some minor issues or bad customer service.
(which reminds me of hi-point. they can offer great customer service and replace models all day long and they only cost a very small fraction of what that shotgun cost.)

so I know the firearms industry can still stand up and take care of their customers to ensure future customers.

once you get a bad reputation it's hard to erase that.
3 examples: Taurus firearms, Cindy "dry hands" Kowalski and any used car salesman.

Please do me a favor and make sure the service manager gets this thread as well.

I'm going to try and call keltec tomorrow and see where that gets me. They are easy parts to change out I would rather do a buy one part and get the other for free. And not have to ship my shotgun

I'm either missing something or you have grossly exaggerated the time you've waited. How do you fit 6 weeks of waiting into two weeks of actual calendar time? My first thought is that you're a customer from hell and I would believe that there is nothing that anyone could do to make you happy.

So you've been around since Sept 2014 and all your posts are to whine about Keltec?

I dislike all their products except the KSG. I have 2 gen 2's and a Gen 1.

The Gen 1 sucked. They took it back and upgraded everything on their dime.
                  Their customer service is amazing.

My Gen 2's have been great.

Also you are the 2nd owner...most gun companies don't warranty 2nd owner. It's first owner only.

I have had the same crappy service from Keltec.

Ordered one of their stock extensions for my Sub2000. The little spring steel piece broke just snapping it on. First person I talked to said it was sometimes an issue.

Their solution was for me to mail back the extension and they would send me out a new one. So they wanted me to spend $6 to send back a $12 part that they admitted was occasionally defective.

                      Yeah thanks for the service.

I wrote it wrong. Started emailing customer support in early August and got no where. Then started on there Facebook. The service manager contacted me and we started emailing august 17. I haven't heard from him since the September 2nd.

                          Sorry about the confusion

They must not realize that by their own admission their products are crappy and as more crap enters the market place they have to fix more of their own crap they laid on gun owners....they are being overrun by their own crap so to stop from drowning on their own crap they "adjusted" their policy to compensate for the crap they put out.

But, Sig has the same policy...even if you are the original owner and somehow lost the receipt, even for a mag they are a major pain in the *****!
