    Winchester Defender-Sell or keep?

I've had a Synthetic stock Winchester Defender for years. Due to the lack of riots, it really just sits in the safe. I was thinking about selling it, but I think it will only bring around $250. It is the only defensive shot gun I have. I can't decide to either keep it or clear room in the safe and take the cash and roll it into a Beretta Outlander that would be used much more often. Thoughts?

So, you bought the defender only for the belief that there was going to be an increase in riots near your location??? If that is the case, then the answer is easy...sell it as you are not doing anything with it. Use the money received to buy a gun that you will actually use or appreciate.

Not trying to sound rude (in case you happen to take it that way). But truthfully, a shotgun is a great self defense weapon but it is also a load of fun to shoot as both indoor, outdoor and public lands allow for it. Since you're not shooting it, just sell it as there will be plenty of takers once you put it up for sale.

You just know a riot is going to break out in your neighborhood 30 minutes after you get home from selling it. Keep it for the children.

You never know when a cheap or beater shotgun is going to come in handy, that's why I keep my NEF Pardner Pump around. I'd say keep it, and don't let it prevent you from buying something nicer even if you have to save a little longer.

you'll be consumed in riotous mayhem the day after you sell it..

you have to keep it, have to

this post is in no way intended to cause ill will of any kind to the op should he decide to sell it.

                    Keep it.

Saying you will get rid of your shotgun because there hasn't been a riot is like saying you are going to leave your spare tire at home since you haven't had a
                    flat tire yet.

In the interest of full disclosure I am a 1300 owner and enjoy shooting it every now and again.

                      ^^^Agreed.

I am over 50 and have lived through 2 Riots; Watts Riots in 1965 and Rodney King Riots in 1992. Based on past history, the next LA Riot will happen in 4 years or it might happen tomorrow or it might never happen. With our current government and the state of the media, I am betting sooner rather than later.

Besides, your Defender is only worth $250.00. What can you replace it with for $250.00?

FTR, I spent about $300 (plus tax and fees) on my Mossberg 500 (7+1 with a 20" barrel). It would now cost more than that to replace it. Nothing gun-related goes down in price, only up.

Lol. The riot quip was a semi-joke. It is a defensive/riot shotgun, but what I meant is i don't see it getting any real use. I primarily shoot sporting clays and hunt bird. I also do a little bit or rifle shooting and a little bit of indoor range pistol shooting.

Maybe I need to change up what I do when I go to the range to use it??

i have to agree with your theory except for the fact that im in the market for one. if your local to the central valley i would be interested in taking it off your hands. if its in good condition i could give you a little more than 250 for it.
you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hand!
