    Cheapest 10/22 trigger mod?

The stock pull on my 1022 is much too heavy for my taste. I'm on a strict budget and don't mind doing the work myself as long as it doesn't involve using tool's I don't have. I have seen those hammer sear combos that are about $60.00 which is the most I'd want to spend right now. Any other options like polishing stock parts to get a 3~lb trigger?

The least expensive upgrade is the Volquartsen Target Hammer, which will bring you below 3lbs.

The stock trigger is so bad it would be hard to make it any worse. My buddy brought his 10/22 to my place and reduced the trigger pull by almost half with a little instruction from me. This is a guy that has almost no mechanical aptitude and has never in his life worked on a trigger. In fact he can't take the trigger group apart and put it back together. I had to do that for him.

That's a good price to get a sub 3lb trigger. Thanks for the link. I could always use the rest of my budget to get an aluminum trigger as I don't really like plastic triggers.

You can look at brimstonegunsmithing.com and look at the trigger work they do on 10/22 triggers. I have heard good comments about their work.

Send it to Brimstone. David and his company are a class act.

I could tell you, but then you'd just get yourself into trouble, and blame me.

VQ hammer is cheap and makes the most difference for DIY.

Yep. Best bang for your buck mod for a 10/22. There are a lot of other things you can do, and they're all worthwhile, but it sounds like the Volquartsen target hammer is exactly what you're looking for. Check out the YouTube video by TriggerShims for easy-to-follow installation instructions.

Why would I blame you? I know how to take responsibility if I mess things up and won't attempt something unless it's very basic and cheap to fix if I goof up. The only sort of gunsmithing I've done is replace an extractor spring on a cz75b , install and uninstall Tech Sights and install a new extractor in my 1022.

This seems like a good option, thanks guys. I think someone makes a drop in anodized aluminum trigger that would made a nice addition.

Volquartsen Target Trigger for $23, which reduces overtravel. Free shipping, and still under your $60 budget. Beyond that, you should consider the BX trigger.

Hmm the Brimstone basic trigger job is only $35.99 and claims 2.0 lbs can be achieved from the stock parts. Tempting as this costs the same as just a drop in hammer.
