    Walther P22 vs. Ruger SR22

I'm thinking about buying another 22's in addition to my Mosquito, but not quite sure what to get. I've narrowed down to these two. Anybody has any ideas about these 2? I kind of like the Walther, but don't want to miss out on a good gun.

My Mosquito only eats gourmet food, CCI mini mags. They're kind of expensive nowadays. Hopefully that these two guys aren't that picky. If they are, please feel free to suggest a 3rd or 4th contender.

I own both the SR22 and P22. I find them both to be equally reliable from my personal experience. The ergonomics on the Walther P22 is much better. If I had to keep only one it may be the Walther since I could sell the SR22 for more because people tend to have hard ons for that.

Walther P22 would be my recomendation since they can be found for a bit cheaper.

I haven't had any experience with the SR22, but I've heard from a friend who has one it breaks down similar to the Walther. My P22 doesn't really like the bulk ammo, it really only likes the Mini Mags and Stingers from CCI.

Hm...Hm...This is what I don't want. I have the Mosquito, and that thing doesn't like anything except Mini mags. The reason that I'm looking at these two guns is that I don't want to shoot only Mini mags all the time.

So what else do you guys recommend? Please keep in mind that bulk ammo is my priority here.

        Thanks

The S&W MP-22 gets really solid reviews, and is supposedly not ammo picky. It is now off roster, just as the SR22 is.

A friend of mine and I both have P22's and they both like CCI Mini-mags and luckily, Remington Golden Bullets.

Our SR22 runs the cheap bulk just fine. It will even run standard velocity CCI at 1050 FPS.

I have never owned the Walther P22 but have heard they can be problematic with cheaper ammo..

Hey OP. I posted the exact same thread about a year or so ago when I was in the market for a tacticool 22 pistol; something different from the Buckmark that is amazingly accurate. I had my eye on the same two you list but decided to see it live before buying only. Luckily, the LGS had them both. To my surprise, these two guns are tiny, with the P22 being a bit smaller... with all the good reviews and bigger size, i was leaning towards to SR22. Sadly enough, the SR22 fell off the roster about a month before i decided to buy. That's when I set my eye on the MP22. Not sure why I over looked this gun but it turned out to be my picked. I'll just say that it eats all the junk food you feed it and the size is a few scales down from a full size; small but not too small. Problem is, it's now off the roster; not sure when that happened. If you're looking to buy new, the P22 is your only roster choice. Good luck.

I shot my buddies Walther and Ruger and found the Ruger to have better ergonomics so I bought the Ruger.

I own both and prefer the Ruger. For some reason, I simply shoot it better. Some say the Walther is ammo picky but after a few hundred rounds mine eats anything.

The Ruger has been dead reliable from day 1.

Ergonomically, I like the Ruger a bit better.

I have the SR22 and have noticed the finish wearing off to the bare metal on the inside of the slide after only a few hundred rounds down the pipe (actual count, not Marketplace count). It hasn't affected the performance at all, but it might only be a matter of time.

Ruger does have fantastic customer service and would likely make things right if I were to go that route, but if you search for "SR22 slide wear" you'll see that this is a common issue, so you might be setting yourself up for a similar hassle if you buy one. That being said, I quite enjoy mine and it's only moderately picky about ammo...didn't like Blazers for whatever reason.

I have the p22 and had it out last week where it saw a lot of use. It had no issues whatsoever the whole day, and everyone loved to shoot it. I had golden bullets, thunderbolts, and federal automatch ammo.

For what its worth, you might what to check/search youtube. I recall someone made a side by side review of the two pistols.

Anyone know what is the price range for either pistol?
