    Just DROS'D a Phoenix Arms hp22a

I've been looking for a cheap 22 pistol for some time to practice with. I originally wanted a gsg 1911 22 , but for nearly $300.00 I'd rather buy a shotgun or put it towards a single stack 9mm.

Then out of nowhere I saw the little hp22 and fell in love with how small it was...and then the price was even better at $139.00 on sale. The views vary on this pistol from "Cheap junk" to " funnest 22 I've ever shot " so I'm interested in what my personal experiance will be. Besides it had a lifetime warranty and the company is located in Ontario so i could drive there myself if the gun is a pos.

Anyone here have experiance with this pocket 22?

Congrats OP. A price tag of $139 including lifetime warranty can't be beat.

Id like to know your experience also, ive been debating about getting one. Ive also heard mixed reviews about it. it seems like its a fun gun that probably wont last a lifetime from what ive read but i think thats coming from people who have 20k rounds through their ruger.
Selling lots of Pistol brass, lots of 38 and 44 mag!

Have no direct experience, but saw a guy shooting one at the range.
From a distance it almost looks like a Walther PPK. That is what caught my eye. It went bang every time he pulled the trigger. For 140.00 should be fun. I have heard you should avoid shooting hot ammo like CCI Stingers or Velocitors. Hopefully you will post a range report.
            Enjoy.

I dont own one but i did extensive research on them because a girlfriend wanted one. So from my research the warranty is excellent. The gun has many safeties that once removed makes the gun a ton of cheap fun. Youtube the gun and surf around to find out what i mean about all the dumb CA inspired safeties on it and how easy it is to fix to make it function just like any other gun would w/o endangering yourself. Enjoy and Gluck

the extra safeties are an easy fix per you tube. I have one the and wife has one. Great gun for the price, but i don't expect it to last forever. Standard velocity only as the manual says but i've shot alot of stingers and mini mags through mine. I'm trying to break it.

Not just Hyper velocity ammo but High velocity even...
To those touting its warranty you should read the multiple stories of people having to get the cops involved to get their pistols back...

IMO on 22LR pistols for me its Buy Once, Cry Once. Save up and get a Ruger or Browning IMO. But then again theres lots of people that love the HP22a but then again once more there are plenty of people with cracked frames...

I really like mine which I bought off another calgunner. I have at least 500 rounds through it and no ftfs or malfunctions. The little thing is a ton of fun for me and my wife, and is very accurate. ymmv

Crap. I don't have room in my safe for junk. Save your pennies and buy a ruger or walther

They are not good guns. They really are pot metal.

If Harbor Freight stocked a .22 pistol, the HP22A would be the one.

Almost invested in one myself. I've read mixed reviews on them; from good to terrible. They do feel nice in the hands though...I may end up buying one later down the line.

Very closely related to the Jennings 22. Low cost handgun from the so called "Ring of Fire." Could be fun for the range but I would not stake my safety on it.

Thanks..It seems like a good deal especially since i bought the nickel plated one that looks really nice in person. Heck additional mags are only $11.50 which is about the cheapest I've seen for a handgun. The lifetime warranty was the selling point for me because it shows they stand behind their products even if there is issues.

To the members requesting a range report- I'll post one as soon as i receive the gun, clean it, and shoot a few hundred rounds through it. I have several different kinds of 22 ammo on hand so ill try a few of them.

I honestly wouldn't trust any 22 semi auto for self defense. This gun is mostly for cheap practice and "coolness" factor because its unique.
