Unless it is for them & their family of four. Or do you mean no one needs more than 10 pallets of ammo per person. I guess I'd say that is probably true most of the time.

^^^^^This.. family shoots we go through about 2k, the two tube fed Marlins being the most used. Also when my brother visits from Arizona and niece and nephew visit from Texas I resupply them with .22lr. if they are in need. Keep searching the inter-webs for the best deals, it's out there.

Since its been coming up online in bricks. I've bought a few thousand rounds of the .22 I want, not whatever I can get.
The prices are not good, but I just sucked it up and got it.
I detest Walmart in general so I don't even bother.

I have been using PMC X-tac ammo. no FTF's at all quality ammo all around not a bad price for 1k. the PMC ammo is pretty consistent in accuracy as well. range friendly also doesn't stick to the magnet.

Surplus military ammo cans with a silica gel pack inside. Keep it cool and relatively dry outside, it will last forever. I also use a bucket of damp-rid in my ammo locker (Knaack jobsite box). This is just to keep the loose odds and ends on the shelf dry until the next range trip.

Any amount 5 digits or less is not "too much ammo."

I have at least 15,000 rounds of 22 Ammo and I consider that a minimum amount to have on hand. There is no such thing as "too much".
