I have nearly that much in my center console.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Seriously. Right now we're in the eye of the coming Storm.

10,000 rounds of .22 should be considered a base-line. Or 5,000 rounds if you desire. But set a goal and a lower limit and stick to it.

I don't think you can ever have too much ammo.

i agree with you guys, I have been stockpiling stuff I can't reload, and that is just 22lr. The other 8 calibers I might not have the 10,000 rounds loaded but have the components to make at least that many. Obama didn't push for gun laws as much and we already have a panic. Hillary WILL push for new laws or pick judges that will make it very difficult for us. Then the shortages will be ongoing.

don't forget the current make up of the Senate starting in January. the Republicans have the Senate for now and the House Representatives as well. will a Hillary election victory stop the FUD and panic?

no it will not. as of right now there is no new gun laws at the federal level pending signature by Obama. no laws were passed after Newtown and there was panic never seen before.

it will happen here in this state as well because there is one guarantee De Leon will propose his internet ammo order ban again and again until it is law. as for the FEDs I don't think it will happen since they didn't pass anything after Newtown when the push for gun control was at it's highest.

this state needs no reasons only for someone to fart with a gun in the wrong place gets legislation going. we can count on that. we are safe for now since those morons in Krapamento are not in session we are doomed when they return.

the state level blows. LOL. we have to fight much harder than most in the country and for stupid reasons.

as for .22 it's very hard to find thankfully I don't shoot mine much at all. If I see some I get a little.

gotta stock up on .556 though for classes.

if it is for classes why not buy the tulammo bulk from walmart? I believe they are $120 for 500 rounds in a spam can. I picked up 2 cases when I was up in Oregon this past fall visiting friends.

It's very convenient to have a two year supply of ammo (or components) on hand, whatever that means to you. It means you can get through any normal shortage without too much trouble. Even with the recent nonsense everything other than .22 has recovered, and with a little planning even that didn't have to be a big deal. I just got two cases from the CMP that I'd ordered 18 months ago.

Also remember that for bans of online ammo sales you also have to worry about the LOCAL level. Think of all of those stores that won't ship to various cities in California.

Artificial panic or not, the price will never be lower than it was.
Buy if you can. Someday that pesky ammo licensing will be here.

I figure the government can figure out from my credit cards that I buy a lot of ammo and components. Hell, they can look up my match results online.

But depending on which version of the law we're talking about either a) we'll depend on the local gun shop for selection. Good luck finding some particular match .22 your gun likes, or ammo for that antique mauser you just bought. or b) you can mail order it to a FFL in which case they'll be charging for processing. Factor inflation into the picture and it just makes financial sense to buy it now if you can do so without going into debt.

And as you say, these shortages are just a fact of life these days no matter what causes it.
