    oem ruger magazine quality

so i was out plinking with my ruger 10/22 and i had bought a ruger brand 10/22 magazine from big 5. the first 10 rounds i put through it and the damn thing cracked along the feed ramps in the black plastic. after really inspecting the magazine and comparing it to my magazine i got years ago with the rifle the quality looks like absolute **** in comparison. the metal looks cast vs cut and the plast doesn't look like the same qulaity either.

i was wondering if anyone has also had problems with them?

i bought this magazine several months ago would ruger send me a new one or am i sol?

the rifle is unmodified, standard carbine version. i used the same ammo in my original magazine with no problems. the rifle didn't make any abnormal sounds indicating something went wrong when it was fired.

My OEM magazine for my 10/22 has provided years of enjoyable shooting. I can't recall it ever failing. I'd contact Ruger or exchange it at Big 5.

Yes, try to return it and or call Ruger.

I've found OEM magazines to be exceedingly durable. In firing a bad lot of Armscor ammunition, I had two kabooms, each explosion causing the magazine to be violently blown from the rifle, which caused the following:

By the way, it should be noted that the magazine above was never serviced, no internal parts were replaced, is STILL in rotation, and functions perfectly fine.

I've never had an issue with any factory black magazines.Bought 1 Ruger clear 10 rounder.Doesn't fit in My Ruger American Rimfire.

Haven't tried it in any of my 3 10-22s.If it doesn't fit in those,I'll ask Ruger to swap it for a black one.Going to try it right now and will update this.

Just tried in all 3.Fits in my takedown but doesn't drop free.Does not fit in either of my factory wood stocked 10-22s.Will be contacting Ruger this week sometime.

Ruger's website has a place to submit complaints.Says they respond within 3 business days.Dropped them a polite note. Will update results.Offered to send them the offending magazine.

I have some old (10yrs), some new. All mixed up now. Can't tell the
difference. Call Ruger, they will replace. Someone else had a problem with
a single mag and they sent him two replacements.

Call Ruger, their Customer Service is good. Never had an issue with any of mine, other than regular maintenance cleaning.

anyways here's more pictures, my iphone only allows one attachment.

Maybe you just got a bad batch.

I find the OEM 10/22 mags to be high quality. No issues, if anything probably overbuilt.

I've heard that Ruger mags are assembled by "special" folks.

This is the first I've heard of parts problems though. I guess if you make millions of something a certain percentage are gonna suck.

I've always been treated right by Ruger CS. Don't worry, it'll be made right.
