why not? you might need some high rings due to the objective lens size. good luck, stay safe & have FUNI mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57God Bless USA -
It should work fine unless the parallax is set to 100yds. If so then most targets or game will be out of focus at less than about 75yds, if you are lucky. For a rimfire rifle it is best to have a scope with an adjustable objective, idealy from 15 yards to infinity. Lets you cover all the ranges that you would normally shoot at.Comment

The only difference is the parallax. Most scopes are set at a 100 yards while rimfire scopes usually set to 50 yards. It should work fine, it's just not the best tool for the job.Comment

look at the power custom scope mount , buy blue lock tight .Comment

Yeah, it's fine. Nikon makes a 3-9x with a BDC specifically for .22s. Overkill..? Perhaps... Fun..? Oh yeah!!!

^^^^WHAT??he said wont work well because its not a rimfire scope
I have a nikon 12x on my 22lr and works just fine. As stated the parallax is different (50vs100) but, if your eye is close to center, the POI vs POA will be within millimeters. Go for it, put that redfield to good use.Comment

+1
I would just get a Nikon BDC 150 rimfire scope. $150 or less and you get a real nice optic for your 10/22. I've got two with zero issues.Comment

let me guess your friend offered to buy it off you?

I have a vintage 4X Redfield on mine and it works fine. As others have said, the parallax could be an issue at less that 100 yds if you are looking for extreme accuracy. The error range would be like 5-9 mm at 50 yds depending on different factors. The error is well within a range for plinking etc.The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one.Comment

Have had a Simmons 3-9x40 on my 10/22 for many a year now. It works great and you should have no problem using it.
However, I acknowledge that there are probably much better scopes for the purpose. I'm just reluctant to go out and purchase an expensive rimfire scope for a plinking firearm."Two dead?!? HOW?!?"
