    Walmart employees can be great...sometimes

Most of my visits to Walmart have involved the need for some assistance, and the inability to find it. But today was different.
I took my younger cousin on a .22 hunt, since he just finished off his box of .22, which was given to him for his birthday. We walked into a local Walmart (3rd one today) and miraculously found 2 boxes of Federal .22, just sitting there. We decided to buy both, one for him to shoot next week and the following, and the other to save for when he wants to hit the range again. As we were standing, waiting in line, a lady comes up, cuts off the current customer, and asks the Walmart employee if she could get the remaining 2 boxes of .22. My cousin politely tells her that we were there first, but if she wants, he's willing to split the last 2 boxes. She gives him a dirty look and demands to be sold the last 2 boxes.
The Walmart employee smiled, and replied with "Please wait your turn in line." She gets behind us, and waits. We make it to the front, and are asked what we need.
I taught my cousin to be courteous, but I also taught him never to let anyone walk all over him, and to treat others the way they treat him. Without missing a beat, he smiles and says "Can I get the 2 boxes of .22?" The Walmart rep starts cracking up, walks over to the shelves, and grabs us the last 2 boxes. The look on that lady's face was priceless. After leaving the store he asked me if we could sell one of the boxes to his friend's dad, since his friend wants to shoot as well (friend's father is an avid shooter who has had trouble finding .22). I asked him how much he wants to sell it for, just to see how he would reply. His answer? "Whatever we paid for it."

Good on the Walmart employee. These days one doesn't see that happen very often. Great to see your cousin stand up for himself and better yet willing to share his good fortune with a friend at his cost. That'll be one fine gentleman when he grows up (assuming he is a younger person now) Great character in any case.

Good thing he spoke up. That lady would have no qualms railroading you and the clerk would have been none the wiser.

I would have asked the lady if she wanted to buy it from me for $50; just to be that guy.

The clerk didn't seem to like her all that much. I was second away from telling her to back off, but the kid beat me to it.

I considered asking her to buy a box off of us, but it seemed like my cousin wanted to take the lead so I let him.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

                Well done MrSam.

Typically the things that I see and hear from todays youth make me shake my head and think how lucky I am, to not live forever . It is with a sigh of relief and very very small feeling inside that brings a feeling of..."maybe there is hope for this generation", when I see the younger generation behave like this...knowing that it all has to do with the parents/familys values. Kudos to you sir!

Thank you good sir, but I can't take all the credit. All I did was taught him how to shoot, to respect other shooters, and to take some, and let others take the rest. Oh, and not to let others walk all over him...but I'm sure he learned that all on his own . Thankfully his father did a great job at instilling good moral values.

I actually bought a box of Federal 550 for a Walmart employee last week. It is always gone before his break time, so he cannot usually get any..

They do not allow Employees to shop during working time.

I can't stand I when people act like they don't have to wait their turn! It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one who tells them to get to the back of the line.

                      Good for your cousin!

Ditto! Cutters are so very deserving of the butthurt they experience. Be it in line at Walmart or on the road...
