GSG 1911. Mine eat's pretty much anything I feed it. Federal bulk, Winchester bulk, PMC, CCI.Ray

The GSG/Sig likes a HV ammo when it's new. My GSG ran ok on CCI mini mag and barely worked with Federal AutoMatch. I changed the recoil rod and spring and it became more friendly with the bulk ammo. Most 1911 style 22's or conversions on 1911 frames will want hotter ammo to cycle the mass of the slide properly. I use the GSG to warm up when shooting my 1911's. If I am not shooting my 1911's that day I warm up with a Ruger.
That may be the reason the Browning 1911 in 22 is smaller. I thought it might have been done to market to the juvenile market, but at $600 bucks that's an expensive .22 for junior. It may be the reduced size is done to obtain a reduced weight in the slide to get better reliability with the "common" ammo.Send Lawyers, Guns and Money - On second thought, hold the Lawyers.Comment

They are great pistols! Well over 1K rounds and no issues. Eates what ever I feed it. Just keep in mind that the sights are also 80%. I painted the front blade on mine.Comment

Is this the GSG everyone is mentioning? If so, who does sse in the Long Beach/Cerritos area? I haven't seen one locally, so I'm guessing its sse.
Btw, great information all around. Thanks guys.Comment

Why shoot .22LR from a full-size 1911? It doesn't make sense! Hahaha... especially with this latest Browning, the 1911-22

Close! It is 85% the size, according to Browning.mshill
The Browning 1911-22 is 80% the size of a true 1911. My wife bought one and it is truly a great shooting pistol.

Lot of folks over at the 1911 forum use Marvel Precision conversion uppers -- they are fairly high quality match type barrels for good accuracy and can fit various frames.
I am considering one for my PM7.Comment

Read a review of most of the conversions and all of the contributors said the Marvel was the best kit, followed by the Advantage Arms, but also about the price of just getting a GSG or Browning 1911-22. Depends on whether you want full size or the Browning's scaled down format is OK with you. I've held the Browning and it almost feels like a toy simply because it feels familiar but small.Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, but do it first.Comment
