    1911 22lr

Any recommendations for a 1911 that shoots 22?

    Any help appreciated.

How big away your hands? The Browning 1911-22 is 80% the size of a true 1911. My wife bought one and it is truly a great shooting pistol.

I have a Sig Sauer 1911-22. Full size just like a government model 1911 and shoots .22 LR.

I would not say that it's excellent, more like adequate and good. It is one fun plinker for sure, though.

My biggest concern is reliability. It's hard getting 22, so I'd like to shoot what I can get and not worry about ftf and so on.

          Nothing like having the "Original".

No 22 is as reliable as a centerfire

all will like some kind of ammo but not all

I have a Kimber Rimfire I got 6 or 7 years ago and I use it for rimfire 2-gun matches

Works great with CCI Blazers, which are impossible to find right now, or any LRN HV ammo. I have recently been using standard velocity ammo and its done good.

I haven't shot the SIG but it looks good and is made by GSG. It has last round hold open which mine doesn't but GSG's can be pretty good.

Mine is supper accurate and is reliable with most ammo now that its fully broken in.

I'd strongly recommend the Colt Ace, or a Colt .22 Conversion on a 1911 frame.

They have the same heft and feel as the genuine 1911.

I's stay away from the Series 80 conversions. The alloy slide just don't feel right.

Keep the floating chamber clean. It's the weak spot in the design, but it really does help produce a more realistic sense of recoil.

Like all .22lr handguns, it's finicky about ammo. I like CCI the best.

I have a GSG 1911-22, and it is a good shooter. It is the same as the Sig. I have mainly put CCI round nose through it, but I have put other types of 22lr through it and all have fired without problem.

I bought an Advantage Arms conversion kit to put on an aluminum Commander frame. Works very well with Remington and Federal bulk ammo.

I've owned the Kimber 22lr kit, the GSG 1911, S&W 22a1, and a Nighthawk 1911 conversion kit. My #1 out of those is the Nighthawk, followed by the GSG 1911.

I have the GSG 1911 and after sending it back to the company for an accuracy problem it came back shooting very accurate and will shoot most any brand of ammo. The only brand I've had problems with is some of the Winchesters stuff.

Colt 22 conversion allows the same trigger pull on your 45 frame. Mine are
totally reliable with about any LR ammo. The accuracy is not the best and
Colt never made any claims as such,it is a Trainer and for that purpose it
is excellent.Bullseye accurate it isn't but with a two hand hold I can
hit ten out of ten on the front row of large steel plates at ASR pistol range.
For reliability there are tricks to making the floating chamber
float longer but after 500 rds they require cleaning. They look great,
the one pictured is about 50 years old. Pete

I think the GSG 1911 is the best bang for your buck. My doesn't like the Remington Thunderbolts but that's about it, it has shot all other ammo just fine. It does get dirty quickly and easily so if you plan on shooting 500 rounds per trip I suggest you bring some cleaning supplies with you. I have a trigger job done on my. It's a great plinker and training tool.
