Fed AutoMatch Ammo.

Scored some Fed AutoMatch Ammo and man this stuff seems to shoot really dirty. I normally shoot CCI, Win, Norma. In this day and age, you shoot what you can get, not what you want. I thought Fed ammo was middle of the road ammo and good stuff. Is my observation that this suff shoots dirty correct?

Yeah, seems dirty in my 22's also, cycles the semi's good. Like you said, nowdays you shoot what you can buy, and since ammo supply is limited, hey you can spend some extra time cleaning your rigs, at least that way you can spend the time with them!

Maybe the newer batches are dirtier because powder is scarce? Dunno really. But when I had them before, they were not dirty. I have since focused on getting Rem GB as that's what my semi autos like so I can't attest to the cleanliness and quality of newer Automatch ammo.

I've shot couple thousand rounds of it and doesn't seem dirtier than any other 22 ammo I've shot. The Remington Golden Bullets were the dirtiest.

I don't really like how they have "match" and "target" in the name. I didn't really notice how they were any better then the champion. However, I do love the federal 22 ammo, its my favorite low cost 22 ammo.

It's good ammo for the price but far dirtier than the proper match grade makes. It's the "match" line for Federal as it has a more match type lead bullet. However, it is squeaky clean compared some of the awful rimfire such as Armscor that makes things like the RGB seem decent.

I have shot a couple of bricks of Fed AM and it did not seem any dirtier than other stuff I have shot. It shoots a little better than blazers, less fliers.

Even the "match" line offered by Federal is worse than anything CCI makes. I don't like any of it and stopped buying Federal products years ago.

The funny thing is they are in the same tree of ownership. A lot of CCI Blazer is made by Federal, and its not as good as the actual CCI produced stuff.

Yea, it is a shame that CCI "pimped" their good name on something made by Federal. In the ideal world, I would only buy CCI ammo. But, you go with what you can get.

I just picked up a bulk carton of 325 Federal Target for $19 last night at the LGS. Not the best price but not what I have seen being charged at the gun shows.

That's less than 6 cents a round and is a good price for that ammo.
