    $100 .22 bolt action find

So a few weeks ago I was picking up a cz75b sa in 9mm that was finally up for release when I stumbled across this little rifle. Picked it up to see a $175 asking price that was crossed out and now showing $100. How could I leave it behind, so I bought it too. Shoots really nice. Super happy with it. It's a J.C. Higgins 42dl marketed thru Sears which would make it a budget friendly Marlin 80 back in the day.

I think old Mossberg budget .22s are some of the best shooting guns that you can buy. The fact they are still very inexpensive is a big plus. My old $75 42A use to hold it's own against Anshultz 54s, Kimbers, Win 52s, 40Xs, etc. You scored!!!!!

          I'd buy that for a $100.

          Very nice find.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

If your daughter is single, over 35 and might be interested in an old, fat, hairy unemployed guy, I'll side with her. Otherwise, it's your's as long as I get first right of refusal if you ever decide to part with it.

even at the original price tag of $175 that still looks like a very nice rifle.
you definitely did very well, as long as it's a straight shooter.

No, she's still a bit shy of 35. That's how old I am.

In Free America people often under value .22lrs and it's possible to buy them FTF. So, it's possible to find deals like this. However, in CA, all legal sales end up going through dealers. People in Ca end up researching how to legally sell their guns here and also "what's it worth?" So, in CA, you stole it.

Nice find OP. The JC higgins and other "off" brand guns tend to be a very good value.

                              I agree. I've got a 151 M(b) that is a pretty darn good shooter.
