Single six flatgate Am I way off base or what?

Well,I listed up my 1955 flatgate with sambar stag grips for 650 in the classified sectoin, and I'm wondering if my price too far off base.

I've googled aroung, and the grips are usually selling for 2-300 bucks, and early flatgates go for 400-1000, with stock rubber grips. I tried posting them to the ruger forums, but they have some silly email address restrictions that prevent me from joining.

I'm just wondering if the problem is the fact that this is a general gun crowd with less ruger savvy or if it's not really worth that? Here's my ad:

Btw, yes, I realize this is also a shameless plug, but i'm not above that.

It will sell quickly on RFC. Pick a price you are comfortable with, and if no bites, drop 5%. Keep it up and it will sell. Flatgates and Bearcats are collectors items, especially in decent shape.

Single action doesn't have much of a fan base here. You've got a Ruger collectable. Put it on rugerforum.com

Nice flat gate and nice stag grips.
But your looking for collector money from a 22 with Possibly a cylinder that might not be original.
The grip frame is xr3 alcoa, but the grips don't have the Ruger medallion.
As Is you'll need to find a collector that wants both to pull the right number.

The high dollar stag grips look like they may have a fitment issue ?
OR it may be just your picture.
You may want to separate the grips from the gun ?
You should list the % condition and if it has had the transfer bar conversion.

I like to collect those old ruger rimfires a bit and just picked up an all original flatgate 98% condition at a show for 500 bucks(it was a really good deal). He was asking around 650 i think. I dont think you are more in the 550 neighborhood. Its hard to tell condition in the puctures but most collectors want an all original gun at 95% condition or better, original box is always a plus too.

All that being said they are not all that common and if you are patient you could absolutely get 600 plus for it. Good luck. Its a sweet little flatgate.

                .
How early/what year did Ruger also offer the .22 magnum cylinder with the Single Six?

                Thanks in advance.

I don't think that you are off. I was going to make you an offer ($600) on it prior to noticing your location. "Cuz I ain't got no other partners in the 818!"
I ended up buying a gun off of GB a couple of days later. Stick to it. It'll sell. Just need the right guy in the right locale.

I sold mine on Rugerforum.com (NOT .NET).

                            Really nice folks on Rugerforum.COM.

                            And they LOVE flatgates.

This is all according to the RENE Ruger Reference:

1959 was the first year of the Magnum single-six, and those serials started with 300000. Anything previous was a L.R. that was sent back and adapted for magnum. 1961 was the first year for convertibles. 1964 was the last year for the Magnum.
