Mine was modified by the Israeli's back in the 70's and used as a pilots survival weapon. They used parts from their FAL, and K-98. additionally the wire stock holds two extra mags, and the pistol grip void can be used to store loose rounds. The sling is from a Uzi.

These were sold by Briklee Trading back in the early 90's

Have the daughters Charter Arms one in the safe. I bought it for her when she was about 8. Think I paid about $40-50 on sale.

OK GF, here is the info you requested. By the way the scope goes no where...
You must fabricate an adapter to hold the pistol grip and weld a castle nut on to it. At one time you could order this adapter on line but it was made from Aluminum. I fabricated one out of mild steel and welded a castle nut on so I could screw on a buffer tube to hold the A2 stock. You might need to shave a bit off the threads on the buffer tube otherwise it may not seat all the way in the castle nut. Also due to the size of the lower tang of the adapter you have to mill out a regular pistol grip channel to fit the wider tang. Below are photos of where all the parts go.

I wanted to add about the Charter Arms feed issues. The bullets tend to feed too low and jam on the lower edge of the barrel opening. My friend who knows more about firearms than I do, feathered the bottom edge of the feed ramp/barrel with a Dremel and a light touch. (don't know if these are correct technical terms). This and the wedge between the clip and trigger guard ( which raises the trajectory) solved the feed problem, but I was still getting FTEs even with mini-mags, Blazers and Feds. The Thunderbolts solved the FTE problem.
                Your results may vary.

I just made a discovery, my Charter Arms AR-7 with box has a receiver from bridgeport conn but the stock butt cover is labeled Armalite costa mesa. A transition firearm.

                          From the Wiki on AR-7

                          Armalite AR-7 Explorer[edit]
Armalite barrels had a steel liner in an aluminum shell. The Armalite stock did not accept the receiver with a magazine in place and the gun was normally sold with one magazine. The receiver did not provide for a scope mount. The rear sight was a peep aperture, adjustable for elevation. The front sight was drift-adjustable for windage.

Mine is a Charter since it provides for a scope and aperture is fixed.

I've got one that I picked up for $50, with very poor finish, Charter. The usual never been cleaned jam-o-matic. Cleaned it up and sprayed it with under body sealer, made a forearm (that holds a box of shells and you don't use the mag as a support), and stuck a piece of sticky backed foam on the tg (keeps forward pressure on mag). Works like a charm, no FTFs or FTEs in a 3 mag test run with mismatched ammo. I turned the storage compartment into a suvuval kit (fish gear, mini lite, flint stick). Since I've got a few .22s and a ton of equipment, I didn't see the need to keep it broke down. You can always dump the stuff into a fanny pack and stow the rifle in the stock if needed. PAX

Have the Henry's version. It's fairly accurate, fun to shoot and very compact. It loves round nose ammo, but does shoot hollow point with some hiccups.

I too have the Henry version(5 months old). Works great with Mini Mags and Golden Bullets. Awesome little gun and accurate as well. Definite bug out bag material!
