Dude.... they come apart just fine, that's how you clean them.... you do clean em, right!
Plus Remington has already agreed to ship an extractor.

Ok so I replaced the extractor with help from a great YouTube video. Cleaned and lubed the receiver and took the rifle for a spin (finally). It cycles great and is a good shooter, but my issue now is I really have to slam the magazine in for it to seat properly. Either way for 200 OTD with a scope im pretty happy with it

I feel the heavy mag seating just gives "positive feed back" and makes me feel macho even though its just a 22lr.

I don't like stuff on guns that is so 'lite' you might guess if it engaged or not.

No, I never cleaned my 597, ever, except for bore snake and spraying the whole works with Rem Oil. Bought for $169, shot few thousand, $200 at EPA buy back. IIRC the over oiling DID result in 'contact suction' of some part and I had to nudge the bolt to have it snap into battery.

I shouldered the 10/22 VS Rem and Rem felt so much better. Still does.

I had bad luck with my 597
From jams to light primer strikes

Ended up getting rid of it and buying a 10/22
            Never looked back
