Colt .22 conversion

So a friend of mine gave me a box of misc stuff. In the box was a 1911 slide and a couple of 1911 magazines. The slide is a 22LR conversion. And one of the magazines is a .22LR magazine. This slide has target sights and an ejector. The only 1911 I have is made by sig and is pretty new. After cleaning up the slide and checking it out the the thing is pretty clean. Here are some pictures.

I'm not sure what to do with it now. It would be cool if I could get it to work, but there is no recoil guide or spring. Anybody know anything about these?

Does it say ACE?

Does it have the floating chamber? Basically the barrel and chamber sections are two pieces.

I have one and it is accurate with standard velocity ammo.

Do not use Stingers as they will lead up the barrel quickly.

You appear to be missing several parts. I don't see the sheet metal ejector but you indicated it was present.

Recoil spring plug,recoil spring,recoil spring guide and the slide stop.

These are available from Numrich.

The magazines I've seen sell for about $75 each. These conversions complete often sell for over $500. So it would be well worth getting it all back together.

I'll get a picture up shortly. I do have a copy of an original instruction sheet as a jpg in my photos. It has a all yellow back ground but if you want a copy pm me your email address and I will send it over.

Here's a picture of everything. Note that I have two ejectors. I cut the original sheet metal one to work in a 9MM 1911.

The other one is a cast part from Numrich which I modified to work in a RIA 1911 in .45 acp.

Any idea if this will work on a sig 1911, or will I need to have a colt?

Yes it should work on any full size 1911 frame.

If the .22 ejector does not fit with your standard ejector it can be modified.

Can always buy an extra like I did.

It says colt automatic cal .22LR on one side and colt's PT FA mfg co. Hartford Conn usa. On the other.

I have a Colt Ace bought new in 1978 , Your friend gave you a nice gift . I have been shooting it since new. Cost was 259.00$ .

Could probably check one of the gun auction sites, like Gun Broker, to get a reasonable idea of what they go for.

I'll do that. I'm kinda bummed because my 1911 is a series 80 and this won't work with the series 80.

Bummer! I forgot about the firing pin safety parts on the 80 series.

You may have $400 in just parts. The barrel and slide being the most valuable items.

You can always save it for a project and just buy a RIA to mount it on. I bought the $399 basic RIA and mount either a 1911A1 slide or the .22 conversion slide.

Eighty series pistols can be modified and the safety parts removed.
