Just picked up the base model 10/22 with the wood stock. I replaced the bolt release and that is it. I took it to the range for the first time this week. What a fun gun! I have a scope on the way. I will probably do the trigger job and that is about it.

pony up another 100 bucks and get the Henry H001 on sale at Turners. Its just pure fun and when 22 short come back in the picture you can load it up with 21 rounds and have the time of your life.

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I have everything from the basic 10/22 carbine all the way up to a 100% Kidd build and the cheapest one is the most fun. Sure, the Kidd will shoot flies off a target at 100 yards, but it's heavy which gets tedious.

The most basic 10/22, and as much ammo as your garage floor will support is about as much fun as you can have...

...until you move to a state where you can put a suppressor on the muzzle, then it's a tad funner yet!

10/22 Whichever model stirs your fancy. Parts are available low cost and the rifle is simple to take apart and put together. I have owned one since 1977ish. Just don't wear it out bu cleaning it. The Henrys are awesome if you want a lever action.well made and accurate. Nice to look at as well

100% agree. I have several 10/22s. One that's all KIDD other than the receiver. It's fun and awesomely accurate. But heavy... My nearly stock carbine with just a few upgrades is by far the most fun hands down.

Additionally like golfish noted, my brother has a henry and it is a down right blast to shoot. Just his henry, my 10/22 carbine, a bunch of mags, targets, and a can of ammo, tons of fun... All day long!
