What do you guys have? I was wondering which ruger 10/22 is great for plinking. I was looking at the: takedown, tactical and the target. Im looking for something that shoots every time and looks nice without burning the wallet.

You cant go wrong with the standard carbine, and the price is right.
the target version will be heavy
Tactical is... tactical?
Takedown is cool if you will actually take it down, but a little pricey.https://www.activejunky.com/invite/132380

Very first gun I owned was a Marlin 60. Great gun. No malfunctions ever.
I traded it in on a 10/22 in 1968. I now own 4 10/22s. The advantage of the 10/22 is that there are a ton of aftermarket parts for it. When you get tired of the original configuration and want more accuracy, you can get a trigger job. Then you can swap out the barrel and the stock etc. They are not quite as reliable as the Marlin, but with the ones I fixed up, I can shoot itty bitty holes in the target.Comment

Ok, ok. Im open to marlins. Which models are the best bang for the buck? And is the mag fed vs the tube fed just a preferenceComment

Just get the basic plain 10/22 carbine and shoot it stock for a while. Figure out what upgrades you want then, lighter trigger, better barrel, lighter stock, ect.Comment

Ok, i just saw a remington 597 for $219 that comes with a cheap scope. I like the way it looks! Is it a good rifle?Comment

if its a cheapo rimfire scope like the tasco's, i wouldnt consider that a bonus, just something your going to throw away
id get with the 10/22 or maybe a marlin 60
marlin 795's and savage 64's can be found on sale for around $150 and are good accurate rifles
dont know about the remingtonsComment

Ruger 10/22 basic carbine model +1
Tons of aftermarket and used stuff out there
Oh and Tri-mags... Need I say more"But mainly democrat voters would still vote Democrat if they elected Satan himself who ate babies as they came out of mother's wombs and killed people in the street. They hate republicans that much and are in that level of denial about what their party is about. They just simply can't handle the cognitive dissonance...." -SkilletboyComment

I'm not sure if any Marlin tube feeders shoot short/long & long rifle. If they do, you might consider that model. The next .22 I buy will fire all three. I'm a 10/22 fan at heart though, if that's the deal, get the cheapest carbine.Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!Comment
