I have the Hunter and Target and decided to DROS a Competition to round out my collection.
I like the feel of the Mark IIIs over the 22/45 but it is certainly a matter of individual taste.
The Hi Viz front sight is nice -- it really presents a nice sight picture.Come and Take It!

is $490 a good price for MKIII Target SS or just stick to 22/45 for $289?
is it worth extra $200+tax?
Please let me know.Last edited by Raptor3000; 01-30-2014, 4:10 PM.Comment

Ruger 22/45 Target vs Ruger MkIII Competition
I'm a 1911 guy so the 22/45 feels way better in hand and points more naturally. The MKIII feels like a Glock which I hate, but if you like Glocks then it will make much more sense to go to with the MKIII style. That said, I don't see much difference in their accuracy between guns of the same barrel length.I voted against Obama before it was cool.
Originally posted by 1911LuvrI beg to differ. The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!Comment

I really love the look of MKIII target SS, but couldn't justify additional $250 :-)Comment

For 200$ you can get an adjustable trigger/sear, firing pin, extractor, performance springs, mag disconnect, Dawson front sight & a brick or two of ammo. What else does it need? Polished feedramp, that's about 10 cents, lol. You'll have money leftover & a badazz shooter.Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!Comment

You are absolutely right. I will go with 22/45 RP :-)Comment
