I'll be sending Dave my 10/22 thumbhole stock for a template, says he could use a Marlin 795 thumbhole for a template too.

Yeah who knows maybe they have the same attorney as CheaperThanDirt who tells them not to ship pistol grips to CA.

Bottom line is companies with FUD toward CA won't get any of my money, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Maybe there's a boycott "abrewin'"! Now that might get them to take a judicious look at this phantom wood issue again...perhaps this time with an attorney who actually possesses some WOOD!

I sounds as if they're with Dewey, Cheetham & Howe!

Its a shame that Boyd's has taken this stance to not ship TH stocks to CA. I personally have 5 of them on .17hmr and .22lr rifles. Its our loss of course as they make a nice product at a reasonable price that we can no longer purchase from them. Of course they also lose the revenue from sales to CA.

Boycotting a company that isn't selling in this state doesn't make sense however I understand the desire to do so.

Got a friend or relative in another state that could order the stock and then ship to you? Nothing illegal in that, just costs a few more $$$ but if you gotta have the stock that's an alternate route to go.

Oh contraire, my friend! Boycotting does make perfect sense in this case as they ARE SELLING their products to the rich, robust CA market. They're just restricting the sales of TH products as a result of some confused, errant and fearful perception of CA laws.
Boycotts have a way of causing the party to do a REAL lint check.

I ordered a SS Evolution for my wife's 10/22 takedown on Friday and it's currently in transit, so things may have changed. Now if only they offered the thumbhole in lefty for my 795.

Quick update. I received the SS Evo TD stock a week ago. It's not quite drop in and the fore end is not going to line up properly. It will be .25 high against the buttstock. To be fair, I haven't called Boyds.

Dave has my stock, it's getting duped in solid walnut. Should be back soon, I'll post pics when it's done.

Tagged for this. Would love to see a solid stock on the 795.

The Evo stock is not a Thumbhole stock. Boyds' Tundra and Blaster stocks are thumbhole stocks.
Still sounds like a lot of crap to me though. I have lots of Boyds' stocks sitting around the house. Blasters, Cudas, in a few different colors. All for the 10/22.
However these were all purchased a few years ago before the legislation BS.
I noticed some time ago, Boyds' website went all wonky and became difficult. My suggestion is this. Order from ebay or gunbroker. There are lots of stock available. There was also a guy in Arizona (I think) named Dan or Dave Marchetti who was a seller of Boyds' stocks. It's been a few years so I can't be sure of that info anymore.

I just successfully had Boyds ship me a centerfire lightweight thumbhole stock. No issues!

I offered to do that for a guy wanting one in a different thread..I am sure they have their reasons for not wanting to deal with shipping anything to CA.

I also stand by their decision not to ship there. That is totally in their rights to do so.They really do not even have to give a reason..

A boycott will do you no good at all.. Alot of people share their view about shipping anything Firearms related to CA. You guys would have to Boycott alot of people.. You need to change your own destiny out there..Boycotts will not solve the base problems you have there..

It was bad enough when I left there for the last time 20 years ago. I can only imagine the mess it is now..

                              I disagree!
CA folks spend lots with Boyds. Boyd's is free to abandon a market for whatever reason they choose.
Likewise shooter's are free to vote with their wallets and buy elsewhere too!
It won't be the first time shooters boycotted a company for principles or the lack thereof.
Not doing so encourages abandonment by other vendors on the basis of fear, perception or confusion.

Soapboxes are fine, but they are shipping their thumbhole stocks to California despite whatever happened in the past.
