I recently came up with this review.

Anyone agree or disagree. I'm more leaning towards the vortex diamondback 4-12 40mm with bdc.

I have a Meuller 8-32x44 Target dot on a CZ 455 that I only shoot at 50 yards from a bench.

...would have been nice if the Mueller target came with fine crosshairs rather than a dot reticle...

I wouldn't buy another Nikon 3x9x40. I like the one I have for fieldwork etc. The next .22 scope I will buy is a Mueller 8x32. 9 or 10 power isn't enough magnification at 50 yards.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

I pulled the trigger on the vortex diamondback 4-12 40mm with bdc. under $200 shipped from cabelas but it is on back ordered. not available until feb. 5. What scope rings do you guys recommend? Do I need to change the scope base?

                scope for CZ

Nikon is good I use them on a couple of .22s
Meuller is fantastic for a .22, forward objective will bring you down to 15 yards.
Sightron has glass = to night force.

18X min. for 50 yard target I use a fixed 36X for 50 yards from the bench.
With 18X you can see your hits on target.

You made the best choice within your budget. Just make sure you get the AO one. Try it out but you may feel the 12x is just a bit shy for shooting out to 100+ yards. Izzy hit the nail right on when recommending the 24x Weaver. Even at 50 yards, if you are trying for super tight groups, the additional magnification is an asset.

I have a CZ455 and first bought the Mueller APT. While it was a great scope for the price, it just did not show me the quality and tracking that I wanted and after I used it a bit I just needed more magnification for both 22LR and 17HMR. I stepped up to the Mueller target dot 8-32 and while it was significantly better then the APT (especially the turrets and overall build quality), the eye box and positioning was picky and at max power, the image wasn't very good. It too was just not quite what I was looking for.

I finally said "enough with trying to go cheap" and bit the bullet and spent more on a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 and got a great deal from OP. I have not shot it yet but let me tell you after looking through it and playing with the turrets, it is leaps and bounds better then either of the Mueller scopes I had... by a HUGE margin. The eye box and brightness on this 50mm objective is soooo nice. The only thing I wanted that I had to compromise on was the 10 yard parallax adjustment. The Viper is 50 yard minimum. I will just have to make sure I am centered perfectly if I ever shoot closer then 50 yards (which is hardly ever).

I think you will be quite happy with the Vortex DB but I worry about the magnification limit of 12x. you may find you desire more, especially at longer ranges...

Vortex has the best warranty around... You can't go wrong.

I finally was able to mount the scope and take it out. I may have mount the scope incorrectly. At 4x it's clear then when fully magnified it's very blurry.

It's typical to experience a washed out/blurry sight picture at full magnification... however, did you adjust the objective to the distance you were looking? Was this indoors in a room? You really need to try looking outdoors at a longer distance when using max power and make sure your objective is adjusted properly to the distance you are looking. At minimum power you can get away with a lot of adjustments being "off". At max power you need to have everything perfect to get the best clarity. And even then, it still won't be as clear as minimum power.
