Which .22 should I buy? Help please!

I want to get my girlfriend a 22 to try and interest her in shooting. she has shot before but isn't hooked, "yet!"

Both the Savage Arms 64 tactical .22LR & the Marlin 795 are both on sale for the same price: $160 @ Big 5.

which rifle do you think is the better choice and why?

    Thank you for your thoughts.

If you could swing it, a Ruger 10/22 would be the better choice IMO

        795. Very light easy to handle.
Savage is a good brand, but that one may be a little front heavy ?
        I don't know I never handled one.

        Good luck.

I'd recommend checking out the local ranges and see if there is one you can rent, or see if another Calgunner would let you shoot theirs.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

If you don't reel her in, you got yourself a new 10/22 to trick out. So why buy the lesser rifle. Plus if you have one already you get parts compatibility. It's a win win situation

If you want to get her hooked, buy her a lever action.

Since I got my 39a, the 10-22 hasn't been out of the safe.

Ruger 10/22 is always a great buy. I bet she will feel badass if she had a M&P 15-22. That way you could get her prepared for the manual of arms of an AR.

If you don't mind spending a bit more money, the M&P 15-22 is about the most fun 22lr rifle you can get out of the box.

It's light, adjustable to a variety of shooters, easily to handle, has no recoil, decent sights out of the box with the easy ability to upgrade to red dots or scopes. It's easy to disassemble and clean and it pretty much feeds any bulk 22lr with copper bullets.

Fun rifle. If you buy one, you'll have a hard time bothering with anything else in 22lr. Everyone I know with one really likes them.

                              (IMO of course).
