      Yes the barrels are sleeved.

If you check their website their main business is building 22LR uppers for competition. I was referred to them by someone who has their precision 22 upper.

Sounds good. Thanks for your input Don't think I'm just disregarding that as an option. I'll do my homework and hopefully come up with a neat little plinker range toy!

They were the only option I found for complete uppers. I originally was going to do the same as you and cut a barrel down but decided against it.

I have a CMMG upper on an AR22 and it has operated flawlessly for years so that is a good option as well.

IAH it may be nice to have a forward assist but I liked the look of a smooth side.

I did have one other question regarding that tension barrel...they look thicker than standard "m4" style barrel profile. Would it fit into a free float quad rail w/out any issue? I'm trying to do the el-cheapo build here so was thinking I'd put something like this on:

I can measure for you with calipers when I get home. I'll be home around 6 and post up the measurements compared to a standard barrel.

Model 1 sales has .22lr pistol barrels made by er shaw. They are a little pricey compared with taccoms, but now you have options, but personally I would probably go with taccom3gs parts, and that's solely based off of word of mouth from other calgunners. Also take note of the length differences between the two taccom has 4 and 7 inch and model 1 has 7 and 11 inch barrels...

I am no fan of those pistol uppers at all. Personally I think they are silly. But I will not tell anyone not to do whatever floats their boat..

If you like it..That is what matters..

Those Taccom Barrels are very nice..Nothing wrong with a tensioned barrel if done right. And they are done right. I have a full length Taccom ULW. Had it for just over a year now..Very nice barrels.

when you've probably got all the guns you could ever NEED, but not all the guns you would ever WANT, you start veering off into the odd stuff and get stuff like that.

The biggest thing is barrel life. If I'm building a bulk blaster range toy will the sleeve insert hold up as well as a cut down CMMG steel barrel? I've got no real world experience with sleeved barrels so I'm trying to learn a bit. Seems to me the thinner metal would wear out quicker.

Well actually the liner is well beyond the rifling so that should not be a concern at all. Rifling will not wear out sooner just because the liner is thin. The quality of the barrel liner material used and the rifling design itself has the greatest effect on the life of the barrel in my opinion. Not the liner thickness..

The way the Taccom barrel is made it will likely have a extended life over a standard barrel. The taccom barrel cools very well. I think a cool barrel is a longer lasting barrel. Even in a rimfire.

Also the Taccom barrel because of its design keeping the barrel cooler, should aid in more consistent groups..

We have 1000s of rounds through ours. It only gets more acculturate as we go..It gets 50 round drums blasted through it quite often just for fun..Wasteful but it is fun to set out about ten cans and blast them all over the place..They kinda look like popcorn..

Hmmm...so we're looking at an inch vs 3/4 inch basically. Its a tad wider. I guess as long as the free float rail inner dimensions will allow for an inch or more barrel size im gtg.
