    Ammo shortage to continue

Hi all. Thought i'd cross post this from the C&R forum since it specifically mentions .22 ammo.

For those who do not get the CMP emails, i got the following today. Looks like the ammo shortages will continue for a looong time. Also, along with thier new ordering limits, CMP raised the price on thier HXP M2 to $118 a can. Up $20. Still a decent deal for us non-reloaders, but hurts just the same

AMMUNITION UPDATE. The CMP has been notified by ammunition manufacturers and distributors to expect price increases and significant delivery delays for all calibers of ammunition, especially for .22 rimfire. The price increases and delays apply to orders we have already placed with the manufacturers. Prior to 2013 CMP received deliveries of truckloads of ammo within a few weeks of placing orders. We are now being advised, as in the case of Aguila .22, that it may take several years to receive all of the 35,000,000 rounds of Aguila ammo we have on order.
    They gave, so we have.

I've been holding off on chasing ammo around just KNOWING that my February order was coming any day now.

        Guess not.
It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.
You alone and our own have earned it with...Your sweat, blood and lives. You own it forever.

I have I think a two case order that's dated a day or two after their last date shipped. Frustrating but nothing for it.

The good news is that if you check the ammo finds thread there's been a steady stream of .22, especially from CCI. Build up a good supply and you can go back to ignoring the issue until the CMP order shows up.

Funny cause I got more .22lr this week from Walmart and Sportsmans Warehouse than I had got in a single month since January. And I only stop by a couple times a week on the way to work.

Yes, the manufacturers cannot keep up with demand for .22lr.

And several million new rimfire shooters. Just had another thought. With some folks not able to find work in our economy perhaps some of them have become scalpers just to put food on the table. After all if you are not working, ie. not making money, then standing in line at Walmart of Big 5 for a couple of hours to make $10-$20 might sound like a way to spend you time and make a few $$$. I am sure some of the unemployed have noticed the shortage and gouging while crusing the web and thought, "Hey, why not make a little money doing this?"

That thread never has the ammo that I use but then again I don't need any.

Good, then maybe I can trade away my 5 bricks of Fed HP that my guns don't like.

The ammo I hoard no one seems to want: Wolf MT or SK STD.

As far as I'm concerned the ammo shortage is over. There has been a ton of good deals around the web for the last couple months.... Just gotta know where to look I guess.

Plenty of ammo available, the Ammo sellers are just like oil sellers.

Plenty of ammo available for a descent price.
