COLT 22/45 pistol conversion with PICS

    After getting a new liteweight Govt 45 I wanted a 22 conversion,being most
Colt kits are 70 series, you have to make an adjustment by removing the
firing pin block from the frame,(it will be the little silver lever in the picture
near the 45 slide stop.)The bluing from the 60s era 22 slide is in SHARP
contrast to the matte finished frame. The slide stop from the 45 and
    22 are different,the 22 has a "2" stamped inside,the 45 will have a "1", if
you dont use the correct stop you can damage the follower on the 22 so it
will not lock back on the last shot. Mags for the 22 can cost anywhere from
$50-$100 bucks,if you buy a kit be sure it has the "2"stamped on the slide stop. Now I have the same clean 3lb trigger pull on 2 calibers. Don't dry fire the 22 without an MT case in the chamber!Pete

    Very nice.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I really enjoy using my all steel slide Colt conversion unit.
You have the newer version magazine, mine are the older pinned versions.
Currently use it on my Argentine 45 just for the heck of it.
Not fond of the newer aluminum slide kits out there.
          Congrats!!

            Cool thread.
I saw the dedicated .22 1911 you were selling a few months (year?) or so back, and almost bit, but that was a project I wanted to do myself.
Did something similar with an Inox Beretta 92FS frame and the factory Beretta .22 kit. The same with a 1911 will happen someday.
            .22's like that are fun.

I'm curious, are the magazines proprietary? I heard the magazine for them are difficult to find hence expensive.
