    jailed a Crickett

It was on sale for $110 at Turner's this week. I was buying a Henry and a 10/22 Takedown already. Thought I throw it in to make it a trifecta: semi, lever, bolt.

I thought $110 is just too good to pass up. Do I need it? Not really.

    I admit...I have a problem...

Nah...these guys didn't come with scopes. I know there are some Savage and Mossberg 22 rifles that come with scopes. Not sure if those are any good.

Crickett makes a decent scope mount for those. I put one on my youngest daughter's rifle so she can plink rabbits with the rest of us. They are fun little guns.

Does the Crickett come with a scope mount?

Can you guys recommend a decent scope at less than $50? Is there such a thing?

cricketts don't come with a scope mount. you can order it directly from keystone or from planetoptics or opticsplanet.com...whatever it is. i think they're like 15 bucks. you can also purchase a young adult sized stock so the gun can grow with them. i think they're $50.

i put one on my sons to help him aim until he's big enough to get a good cheek weld and learn to use the irons.

i almost bought one for the $110 in pink for my daughter, but i just picked up a 20gauge youth and a marlin 60 two weeks ago. i think the wife's patience are wearing thin.
            I don't own any guns...they're dangerous.

they seem neat but single shot and you have to manually cock it gets a tad annoying

I picked up a pink one for my daughter last month to give as a Christmas present.

The iron sights are hard to adjust, but the rifle will hold an inch grouping at 50 yards with them.

It's not too bad to shoot: trigger finger lifts and snaps bolt open, left hand throws the cartridge in the chamber, runs the bolt forward overhand, and charges the firing pin on the way back to supporting under the stock.

The kid will learn to shoot irons first, then we' ll transition to optics

Picked up the Crickett just in time for Christmas. Cleaned and greased the contact area between the bolt and the receiver. It's much better now. The action is pretty smooth. Must make time to go to the range.

The point of it is for cheap fun and training. It's a very I intimidating gun for a youngster to shoot.
You can make a 50 round box stretch a looooooong time with a single shot.
It'll be gone in minutes with a 10/22.
Plus, having only one. Single. Shot. Makes you think a lot about where you're shooting: it develops a better shooter.

That and the cricketts are just cute

I learned something new yesterday. After chambering a round and close the bolt, I have to pull on the plastic knob at the rear of the bolt to cock the firing pin on the Crickett. It has a pretty stiff spring. How is any 6 year old expected to be able to work that?
