26" measured in it's shortest firing length.

If the stock folds or collapse but will not fire while in that position than the measurement while unfolded would count.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Semi-auto centerfire rifles have different overall length requirements than any other type of long gun (rifle/shotgun).

        bolt-action rimfire rifle = 26"
        bolt-action shotgun = 26"
        lever-action centerfire rifle = 26"
        lever-action rimfire rifle = 26"
        lever-action shotgun = 26"
        semi-auto centerfire rifle = 30"
        semi-auto rimfire rifle = 26"
        semi-auto shotgun = 26"
        single-shot centerfire rifle = 26"
        single-shot rimfire rifle = 26"
        single-shot shotgun = 26"
        slide/pump-action centerfire rifle = 26"
        slide/pump-action rimfire rifle = 26"
        slide/pump-action shotgun = 26"

All long guns: 26" over-all length
          Shortest barrel on a rifle=16"
          ...........................shotgun=18"

Been this way in all of my 69 years.

Quiet-thanks for the summary. I thought it was 30" for all long guns.

CA assault weapon laws changed the long gun part.

So, that semi-auto centerfire rifles need to have an overall length of 30" or greater. [PC 30515(a)(3)]

It's been that way for the last 13 years.
