I'm running a 16.5" kidd barrel, bead blasted, with comp. it is amazing. Chamber is tight its a little picky with winchester 555 ammo. Other then that everything runs great. Cci variety will produce .5" groups @50yards (most of the time less then that) without a problem when I do my part.

Very nice, you have any pics I'd like to see your setup.

I am pretty well set on Kidd still unsure about barrel length.

Here you go, still basically like this but I replaced the black kidd bolt with a scalloped silver one.

Darn nice rig, thanks for sharing! Looks badass with the black comp at the end.

Whats the total weight of the gun?

Any one else have some Kidd barreled 10/22s they want to show off?

I'll be getting a Kidd 18 inch fluted beed blasted barrel w/comp and Houge ghillie tan stock for myself for Christmas.

Is there any practical reason to upgrade to a Kidd bolt while I am at it?

I'll throw in my opinion. I think the kidd barrels are probably top notch, but kinda pricey. I opted for a factory target barrel from ruger in 20". It's cold forge hammered and has a very nice design. At 50 yards I sit on a dime and have out shot much "better" built 10/22 based rifles at matches. Seems to feed and extract everything i've shot out of it. The best part is that it's half the cost of a kidd barrel. Always ask yourself what am I going to use it for before the money starts pouring out of your wallet.

A very simple gunsmith/lathe/mill mod to any stock ruger 10/22 barrel will reduce group size by almost half.

Make a chamber gage/spud and measure chamber length and typically remove .012-.015" off rear barrel face, deepen extractor cut to meet chamber edge.

Measure rim recess in bolt and machine to .038" avg., mill/Remove .003-.005" from bolt face.

If you have the machines, try it.

Kidd 20 blasted. Virtually no recoil. And not really heavy

Kidd is the way to go, but you can't go wrong with GM either, and for quite bit less.
