    10/22 Barrel upgrade

I have had my 10/22 for a couple years now and I have decided it is time to upgrade the factory barrel with something nicer.

Any suggestions on a sub $200 barrel? I'd like to be able to shoot sub half inch groups at 50 yards. With the factory stainless barrel the best I can do is 1.5 inches.

Lots and lots of brands to choose from, very overwhelming.

    Thanks.

There are many good options. Rimfirecentral has tons of info for you. Kidd is #1

Kidd has some sales going on now. I bought the lightweight barrel for my 10/22 but it hasn't arrived yet but over at Rimfire Central they say Kidd is the best of the best.

Thanks for the input. I'll take a good look at Kidd barrels.

Does anyone have experience with Beyer barrels?

You can not go wrong with kidd 20 " stainless blasted bull barrel practically and cosmetically.

          They ship very fast.

If youre not aware, a bull barrel will not fit your stock without modification. just fyi

I know, I have my mind set on the Houge stock in ghillie tan with the bull barrel channel.

I think I have settled on a Kidd barrel, the 18 inch bead blasted fluted with comp. Going to research more though.

Is there any good reason to get a 20 inch barrel over 18 when it comes to 22 lr?

We carry barrels from Volquartsen, Tactical Solutions, Green Mountain, Pike Arms, Keystone, and E.R. Shaw. A new replacement barrel is the prefect way to upgrade your factory 10/22!

Try that link. The er shaw and green mt stuff is very affordable, and has a good rep i guess.

I had a 10/22 with a Hogue nylon (ridgid) regular channel stock, and didn't want to upgrade the stock so I tried a Volquartsen Muzzle-weighted barrel. It is a shooter.

It is a "choked" stainless target barrel that is HEAVY .920 for the last 4" or so. It shoots great. Price was $140 way back when... not sure what today's prices would be.

Makes for a short light handy rifle too.

Length is pretty optimal too at 16.5" just don't put it into one of those Red Jacket bullpup stocks - not quite long enough.

There are several fluting options available as well on all of our stainless steel barrels. Choose from I-Fluting, Snake Fluting or the conventional Straight Fluting. **Snake Fluting** is not a spiral or helical flute, nor is it a conventional straight

Peak velocity in a 22LR round is reached at about 16 inches. Beyond that, the round is slowed by friction.

I had a TacSol X-ring aluminum barrel on my previous 10-22 build- Absolutely loved it.

Didnt realize how light it was until I bought a 10-22 target with the standard bull barrel. HUGE difference!

I will be getting another X-ring soon.

Kidd barrel looks great and is very accurate, but likes premium ammo.

                            None, other than aesthetics.

20" barrel can add additional weight.
