Performance upgrades for a 10/22

I just jailed a standard 10/22 and am already planning and buying upgrades for it to turn it into a general purpose target rifle. I am looking for accuracy and light weight since I plan to shoot it in all positions including standing.

Here is what I am looking at so far.

• Boyd's Evolution Stock (Just bought an pepper one on ebay)
• Green Mountain Barrel (Can't decide between 20" or 18" flutted)
• Volquartsen Trigger Guard Assembly 2000 (Any cheaper suggestions for a light pull and quality trigger?)

What else am I missing or is recommended to add to my list? I would like to keep my total under $800 and I am at $350 now.

1. Longer is better. (I have 20 and 24" models)

Just shoot it as is for a brick then mod it. I am pretty impressed with numerous 3/8" groups at 25 yards with a stock barrel and my own trigger job. Tech Sights are awesome by the way.

Lol the 20" GM barrel is a heavy sucker. I would suggest getting either a heavy taper from GM or a heavy taper from Kidd. Otherwise your lightweight goal is shot before you you even get started.

GM also makes a really cool fluted sported barrel that I just a bit thicker that a stock carbine barrel. Might want to check those out as well.

Kidd triggers are pretty much the best. I have his trigger kit and its awesome and I have a complete single stage 1.5# Kidd trigger that is awesomer.

This is great advice. But beware, I bet Ol Shoooter never intended to have nine 10/22s before he started visiting rimfirecentral. I wanted one. Now I have five. Thanks RFC.

IMO there's 2 mods that should be done on every 10/22.

1. Extended Mag Release. Although Ruger might be adding these on already as my 10/22 takedown has it already.

2. Auto Bolt Release Mod.

Once you do them, shoot the heck out of it stock then figure out what you want to add onto it then.

I just got my first one this year. i recommend you shoot it as-is for a while to decide what you dont like about it before you go changing everything. as said above, very addicting

I'm a "Buy Once Cry Once" type person but thanks for the suggestions for parts. Basically I am not looking for top of the line but midrange. Something to be on par or better than the Magnum Research mlr22at.

My ruger 10/22 has kidd 20" bull barrel.

With a leupold vx-1 rimfire scope, I basically punch a quarter coin size hole again and again at 25 yards

I just saw that Kidd was having some sales so I got their 18" black lightweight barrel and single stage trigger unit.
