A durable red dot sight for $100?

+1. I've owned both for years and used them on both a 10/22 and an AR-15. They're a solid buy.

Which one do you like more?

As a side note on the TRS 25, you can get them all day long for $80ish without the mount and a tad over with the mount. A lot of folks have taken to uisng the UTG 1" mount for like $8 and found it works just fine. I couldn't do it as I swore no more UTG or other entery level stuff on my new builds.

When I took the sight off the rifle and played with it the cross-hair reticle was actually crooked by about 30 degrees.

I have a Primary Arms Micro. It seems to be very high quality so far and though experience I know they stand behind their sights and are easy to get someone knowledgeable and helpful on the phone if you have any issues.

I only use an outdoor range and its been good there in the middle of day, so no sunlight washout concerns that I hear some people have with the inexpensive red dots.

Well that sucks. The reticle can also distort and move if the reticle selector is in between two reticles, but it doesn't sound like this could be the issue either since you played with it. What model do you have?

You should have them replace it in any case so you have an extra sight.

I was looking for the same thing as the OP, however, I have a Sig 522. If I wanted to get the PA micro dot would I then need a medium riser(?) to co-witness?

Depends on what you want:
Medium riser = Absolute Co-witness
High riser = Lower 1/3 Co-witness

I have the TRS-25 and my buddy has the PA and they are about the same. Both are reliable and get the job done.

The PA. Both are functional, rugged and hold zero just fine. But the Bushnell casts a bit of an annoying reflective red bloom on the fringes when the sun is over my shoulder. The PA doesn't do this. Also, I like the latest PA that has a removable base, allowing use of mounts designed for the Aimpoint Micro.

Let me know when those $100 Aimpoints go on sale - cheapest I have seen is $350 for a PRO.

I don't anticipate my Aimpoint ever failing, but I doubt the TRS-25's will give out either. I'm not dropping them from planes, trains, or cars and I'm not fighting in the Desert with my .22 LR's
