Ruger Mark III SS in the wild?

Love to know what you find out from your research.

I'm picking up my new Mark III Target tomorrow and off to the range this weekend. I have ammo from Winchester, Remington, American Eagle, Federal, Aguiliar & CCI mini mags. I will shoot (at least) 50 of each and see which ones misbehave. Some have suggested to start off with CCI as they are good rounds for breaking in the Mark. ...orr maybe that's a YMMV opinion.

As far as the question about ammo goes, my Mark IIIs shoot any standard or high velocity ammo very reliably. I have shot cheap Centurion, good CCI, Thunderbolts, Remington Goldens, and Win 333s, and Federal Bulk (my fav) and all of these rounds have been fine. I accidentally tried some subsonics last month and they would not work the action of the gun. Other than that, my Mark IIIs shoot everything very reliably.

Congratulation on your new purchase.
The Ruger MkIII is great stater pistol. It will eat any ammo you got, its not very picky.

Good to know. Yeah, I would be leery of subsonics on a semi automatic. I believe they are for bolt action or revolvers.

So glad I ordered one today, been lusting after my buddy's Mark II for well over ten years.

MKII ya say? Just picked up this 6 7/8 Target slabside a couple weeks ago at American Shooting Center. I don't blame ya. When I saw it I had an instant boner. A handsome pistol fer sher

Then I started looking for magazines...

Then I got laid off a week later.

Any recommendations on particular brands or types of .22lr ammo? Is it a fussy eater? Thanks.

My MKIII 22/45 eats everything. The MKII scarfed about 200 rds of Win M-22 with zero malfs. Did get one stovepipe with Fed bulk.
