Need some help building an reliable 22LR AR-15 upper

I really do not like the old-school 2 piece hand guards on the cmmg so i guess I will build a dedicated 22LR upper. Can any of you suggest brands and where to buy.

Guess I need a barrel, BCG, and better mag adapter? I have the rest of the stuff here already. I want reliability over anything else. I do not want a gun that jams. Which parts are best? Can I use the upper with my existing AR lowers without switching hammers etc?

Well I was gonna say just buy new hand guards but then I read the rest of your post.

I have no idea where to get stuff for a dedicated 22 upper.

Good luck and keep us posted how it turns out.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Taccom3g has all the parts for sale as a complete unit or parts, and cmmg sells a dedicated .22lr bcg

Just buy a complete CMMG upper and put the rail of your choice on it.

I got this one a few months ago. I have had some issues with failure to fire, but I recently dad a few articles that indicated a hammer without a notch will correct the issue. Gonna swap out the lower I've been using with one without the notched hammer and see his it goes.

And black dog mags are nice, and supposed to work with the cmmg.
            Sorry, not sorry.

My choice these days is Taccom.
Ultra reliable, accurate, light weight, and outstanding customer service.
Tim fits each collar and barrel himself.
Nickle plated bolt comes with the reliability kit installed.

Do you know if the Taccom nickle plated bolt will work in any AR upper?

Built this from my first ar lower and a new CMMG Upper. Used Taccom reliability kit with Better Mag adapter. Shot 800 rounds first day out. Only problem I had was my wife thinks it is hers now.

Nope. Didn't like where I saw the company going. I told them early on when money took the place of quality and customer service, I was done.

I've been working closely with Tim at Taccom. He is taking the AR15 .22 to another level.
With Tim, it's about quality and customer service. He fits every collar to every barrel he sells.

Tim designed much of the .22 stuff you are familiar with when working for other manufacturers. He decided it was time to go out on his own.

spikes hasn't offered the ST-22 in over a year last time i checked. that's why i suggested "If you can find one".

the spikes ST-22 i have is NOT a conversion kit...it has a LW barrel, M4 configuration, in the standard 1:16, 22 rimfire twist rate with dedicated upper parts; the lowers will accept any standard uppers in centerfire as well.

i purchased it new from spikes.
