    New Savage BSEV .22LR

Hey guys and gals. I just jailed my not only 1st .22lr, but bolt action! I cant believe it took me this long. I was in the market for a new CCW handgun, but started thinking I needed something cheap to shoot and fun for plinking. I wanted to able to spend a few hours at the range and not be out to much $$$.

I was torn between getting the Savage BSEV in .17HMR or .22LR. I ended up with .22lr because my local shop had one in stock and I'm hoping that the craziness of .22lr ammo dies down a bit. Right now .17HMR and .22lr isnt much of a difference in price, but it should hopefully die down soon. Plus I have about 4k rounds of .22LR already, which helps a bit.

Anyway Im super excited and cant wait to get her dialed in at 100 yards. I picked up a 3x9 Redfield scope and rings as well. the 10 days cant come soon enough!

Thanks for looking and be safe out there my fellow Calgunners!

Heres a quick pic I took from the internet of almost exactly what I have

If you were torn between .17 and .22 you should have looked at the CZ rimfires with the interchangeable barrels. You could have had both for around $450 -475, and they shoot pretty good too.

I think savages are nice rifles but they really inflate the price with their guns with aftermarket stocks

ex. $200 price increase for a gun with a $100 stock

I have the .17 BSEV and its an excellent shooter, and always a head turner at the range. People are surprised at the home done trigger job at 1lb, 2oz as well. Its a fantastic shooter, accurate, light, and generally just a fun gun to shoot. I have a CHEAP BSA Sweet .17 scope on it, and change it out every now and again with a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 when I want better glass.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Thanks for the complements guys. I really cant wait to get her and spend a few hours at the range. Its gonna be nice to be able to shoot at the range and not have to worry about how much ammo I'm shooting . Plus I really think I'm gonna enjoy shooting at 100 yards. Believe it or not I've never shot anything at that distance!

Thanks again guys. I believe the fluted barrel is a 21" barrel. I should be able to reach out pretty far with that.

BTW boy has it been a tough time to try and find CCI .22lr at a decent price. I have a fair amount of plinking ammo. But I cant find CCI Mini Mags anywhere. And I refuse to pay .20 a round for it if anyone has it in-stock...

Which LGS, and was it a fair price? I'm in the market for a Savage or CZ in .17HMR but don't want to start calling every Big 5 and other shop in the South Bay just to find out who has one in stock.

if you can find a good internet transfer I got my btvs from buds for 420 otd. every brick and mortar store wanted 450 for the btv alone no one had the btvs.

I bought mine at City Arms in Pleasant Hill. I paid like $550+ tax. Seems to be about the going rate for the BSEV. Most are $500-600 on Gunbroker then you have the paid the $100 transfer fee and tax and dros on top of that. Savage makes cheaper models. The BSEV is one of the more expensive ones thats for sure.

You could just grab this, save the tax and pay the transfer fee:

Rimfire shooting has never been more fun. Chambered in 17HMR, the detachable box magazine and 21" spiral-fluted stainless steel barrel of the BSEV are set in a thumb

But then I couldn't hold it and work the bolt over and over and dry-fire it a few times, then make an impulse buy right then & there!
