found an hk mp5 22lr buy or pass?

ive been looking at the gsg5 mp5 version lately but I found an hk mp5 22lr for 499. is it worth it? i know the hk version has a lot of aftermarket support. and it seems like a fun, reliable plinker. what are your thoughts? this would be my first 22 rifle.

If you like it, buy it.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

The HK Umarex version is a much better product.

I've always been kind of a Ruger 10/22 man myself but I noticed my favorite FFL -"san jose gun trader" he has a vendor thread of what he has in stock here on Calguns(a home based FFL) these in stock and if you are interested give him a call.the first one is my pick and the first two are brand new-

          "Ruger 10/22 tactical model #01261 $295

          Walther HK MP5 A5 $550

The following used guns are in stock:ATI GSG mp5 a5. $300"

I did read a good review about the Walther/Umarex version on the truth about guns website.
my favorite part was the Walter has the "H&K slap" when you close to bolt by slapping the bolt handle down, just like the real thing which is pretty cool.

you can ask him and he MAY even match the price that you have seen, if yours was on the new gun and a similar configuration.

I had the HK and sold it. It was a solid, fun, accurate rifle. It has an adjustable gas pressure to control the speed of the bolt to fine tune its reliability with all ammo. Its head and shoulders above the ATI GSG.

I only sold it because I have no use for it at all. If I was going to keep it, I would have also bought the A2 stock, a rail and nice 1-4 scope. So instead of spending another $500 on the rifle, I sold it for $450.

From my reading, HK (UMAREX/walther) is better than GSG, especially after the lawsuit.

I was original looking for an HK MP5-22. It seems to be a fun little plinking gun, but didn't like the pencil barrel on it (probably doesn't matter anyways, since it's a .22). So I decided to look at m&p 15-22, and recently ordered one from impact guns for $430.

Not trying to persuade you in your decision. It really depends on what are you willing to give up for what you want.

I just reg'd mine at Big5 for around $460 plus taxes and dros. I went crazy and picked up a Bolt action while I was at it so only had to pay one dros for long guns. Been waiting for it too!

HK is waaaaay better than the GSG. It really depends what you are going for though. If you want a more realistic look, feel and reliability then go HK. If you just want to punch paper and don't care, then GSG will do. IMHO I've seen more threads about fixing a GSG than anything. I haven't seen one negative about the HK other than the price and thin barrel.

For the barrel, I did see something about swapping out with a 416 from HKparts or PRO. It's supposed to be thicker.

Just to comment on the thin barrel, it was designed that way in order to have match grade and keep the price down. Just because a barrel is thicker, doesn't mean its better. The GSG has a thicker barrel, but the HK barrel is Match Grade.

I agree with you on that Draco, the thin barrel is not even a neg. So really the only one is the price!

To the OP, what ever good deal it is, you'll probably end up spending more trying to make it feel like the HK and never even get there. The extra cash is totally worth it! You'll love it.

I have a gsg5 and have shot a friends suppressed gsg5. Both run excellent, I picked mine up as a bunch of parts. I think either way you go you won't be dissapointed. I have made a few mods to mine that can be found on the web. In my defense I like to tinker with things.

the Hk really isn't much more. I found one brand new for 499. just factoring in all the upgrades I want. and the hk version has A TON of aftermarket support. I think I will go for the hk version. too many good reviews and recommendations to pass it up.
