Before you rant too much about your 22 mag revolver---at least try a couple of different brands of ammo---let us know the outcome...

Modern rimfire ammo is pretty good, and so are the weapons. My $.015.
exactly! all mine fires, i only heard that if you leave your rimfire ammo sitting on a hot dashboard of a car and they are sitting bullet facing down the primer can melt and run causing a batch to fail to fire. i think the problem is with his gun.

          was it cci ammo

ive only had like 3 duds with cci

ive had 100s of remington duds

and 50 or so federal duds

i expect about a 8% failure rate with remington and 5% with federal

winchester does good but often about a 2% failure rate

            Who told you that?

I want to seek them out and avoid asking them any questions.

yes with a Colt 1911 and it was a life threatening situation. I ended up using the gun as a hammer on the pitbull's skull allowing both of us to retreat. We both lived, but I would have preferred to not have the 28 stitches in my leg. If that 1911 had not failed to fire the dog would have been killed before it reached me. Turned out the grip safety was messed up. Must have happened the last time I cleaned it after I was at the range and didnt realize it. While a glock isnt as perfect as Glock says it is, it's better then a 1911 in my book.

As one person said, .22s are not as consistent as centerfire rounds due to the way the priming compound is placed in the case. I had a .22 conversion kit on a Colt Gold Cup, that had too many unfired .22s. Colt Gold Cups had a lighter hammer spring, than regular .45's, so I changed the hammer spring, giving it a harder strike and it solved my problem and never had another unfired cartridge. You may want to check and see if you are having light hammer strikes. You can do this by comparing fired cases from your pistol with another .22.

22 ammo is getting worse as far as misfires.
CCI is the best , cant remember the last time, if ever, that I have had a misfire in 1000s of rounds. Anything Remington is totally unreliable. Federal Champion is about the best as far a reliability and price. Other than CCI, quality seems to up and down on the other brands

I have the NAA .22LR revolver and never a light strike and I haven't ever heard of one light striking. The overwhelming gripes about the revolver even with a rifled barrel they can't hit the broadside of a barn and are fearfully loud.
Change ammo and give 'er another go.

I haven't shot my AA 22 mag derringer much, but have had no misfires. I'd suspect hard "primers" or weak hammer spring.

An occasional misfire can be expected due to the nature of rimfire ammo and how priming material is inserted into the rim. In the case of an occasional failure to fire, one just goes on to the next shot and things should be taken care of.

If you have multiple, sequential, failures to fire, then it is probably your firearm. Call the manufacturer, explain the difficulty, and they'll probably authorize you to send it to them and most likely will repair and inspect the firearm at no charge.

The FIRST thing I would do is try different brand of ammo. Be sure it is not something you stored the same way as the ammo that failed to fire. It simply could be a bad batch of ammo, though not likely that 5 would ftf.
