I have had my new takedown to the range a few times now, this is my first Ruger rifle, (Have several handguns and love them) and I find I do not like the stock sights. The white diamond and shiny black finish on the rear sights reflect so much light and glare I find it near impossible to focus on the poorly chosen brass color front sight. Does this annoy anyone else, and is there a fix for it short of replacing the sights?

I think Skinner has the nicest replacement for the stock sight on the take down rifle.RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.Comment

Yes, the Tech Sight is far superior. My groups with it rival what I can do with a red dot sight.I have had my new takedown to the range a few times now, this is my first Ruger rifle, (Have several handguns and love them) and I find I do not like the stock sights. The only catch is that this system requires a new front sight. Removing the stock front sight is a cast-iron bear best done by a gunsmith. Otherwise the Tech Sight is easy to install.

Removing the stock front sight just requires wacking it with a punch in the right plate, with a hammer. Why does that require a gunsmith? It's just a tight-fitting slide-in dovetail. Then the tech sight front sights just slide right in.Yes, the Tech Sight is far superior. My groups with it rival what I can do with a red dot sight.

If you are comfortable doing that, obviously it does not require a gunsmith. There has been a fair amount of discussion about this on Ruger.net and the consensus is that some people do it themselves (and usually found it difficult) and others used a Smith.Come and Take It!

The sights come off the barrel from left to right (right side is the charging handle side).
Some sights are really tight but they do come off.
I like the Williams receiver sight myself.
Tech sights are also nice but they are kind of tall and bulky for my tastes.

I felt the same way. I have a pair of 10/22s in jail right now, one for me, one for my wife:
I ordered tech sights for one, and NoDak Spud NDS-26 for the other (with a tech sight front, as I like the TS front design better than NoDak's).
I look forward to seeing which one performs better.

Ugh I really want the tech sights but they're pricey. I've shot a few rifles in my day and actually just a few months ago I got to shoot an ar15 with this style of sights on it and I absolutely loved them.Comment
