Did they do it because they wanted to
or did gunrights groups convince them

They probably did it because they wanted it to have a better chance of passing.

            Defcon,

I'm sure they will change it back if they ever see YOUR rimfire collection.

Now, they need to remove non semi autos with removable magazines from the list.

The same people who wrote this bill said they wanted muzzle loader registration. They won't stop until nail clippers are a felony.

A tiny baby step in the "direction of freedom" but obviously still an egregious encroachment on the 2nd amendment specifically, and against law abiding citizens.

This should probably be moved to the 2A forum.

                    Thanx for the update, Defcon!

Two things happened... They removed all the registration requirements (Steinberg wanted nearly ALL weapons registered, even stuff purchased long ago) and they removed the rimfire AW language. Yes, it is good news for the semi auto .22 owners, but SB374 still impacts all center fire rifles with detachable mags (mini-14 et al).

You know they will be back in the near future in an attempt to get the rimfire semis. Just because you don't own or desire to own a semiauto centerfire rifle, don't think that the passage of this won't affect you sometime in the future.
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

Isn't it a better strategy to leave it in? It would give moonbeam an OUT not to sign it. But then again, he made everyone a criminal in the event of a natural disaster by outlawing open carry.
^^^The above is just an opinion.

happy to hear that but the rest of this legislation should still not be something we're considering
