Nice - saving this post/thread. Only seen the videos on youtube where you have to break the spine, knock out the pin and than glue it back together again (this last step sounded sketchy to me).

The load assist "mod" is that because the hole is to small to accept the button? and a round file will open it up to accept the load assist button? Thanks for the info.

Hmmm, I just used a long screwdriver and a hammer and knocked the pin out. No drilling holes or supergluing.
