You probably don't want to hear this, but, if you're willing to travel a bit there are a few rimfire USPSA type matches a month. For example, Central California Pistol League (CCPL) has a "fun" match on the 4th Saturday of the month. Oakdale has a fun match on the first Sunday of the month. I think Laguna Seca has Steel Challenge once a month. If you want to do centerfire pistols, Richmond has matches on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. CCPL has a match on the 2nd Sunday. Oakdale has a match on the 3rd Sunday. Northern California Pistol League has matches twice a month. There's a lot to shoot, but you have to be willing to travel

Reactive targets. Anything that moves or rings or flips or spins etc. I'm kinda lucky in that I have two outdoor ranges very close to me. And he one I'm a member of is only $150 a year, has lots of steel, and lets you throw out all kinds of reactive targets. Even golf balls.

Mix it up. Also shoot iron sights. I don't have any scoped 22's. no fun. Iron is way more fun.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Take up bowling, they bring you beer and pizza in the middle of your "Game" and the ball comes back to you. Oh yah, baseball can be on the monitor as you indulge in this sport. After you can walk a few feet to the bar to rehash all the fun while watching sport center. No FTF or FTE here. All in AC comfort.

golf balls are great and react well when hit could send it straight up into the air 15 feet.... and while air born a follow up shot can make it a challenge to keep you occupied...

competition, bigger guns, faster speeds, longer distances. if you aren't being challenged, you need something more difficult..

Find a local Tactical .22 Precison / Sniper Trainer match. Bill Irwin used to run one down here that was absolutely the most fun I've ever had shooting. Every stage and match was different. Known and unknown ranges, paper targets, steel targets. Golf balls and clay pigeons. Shooting from all kinds of improvised positions, from inside a port-a-potty, and once from a trailer being towed by an ATV. I have a 3rd place plaque from one that will be a treasured possession for the rest of my life. It really challenges every aspect of practical shooting.

Laguna Seca threw a bunch of golf balls out near the metal targets, that is fun.

Go find some steel challenge matches or rimfire multigun matches.

I personally switch things up with clays. Changes the pace and the target presentation. Skeet and Trap sure are fun and definitely brings a different type of satisfaction than punching that bull.

Don't be afraid to take a break, take up another discipline, or take up something else completely unrelated that can give you a different perspective on shooting.

Earlier this year I started playing darts, and I still suck, but the lessons learning the fundamentals has taught me made me realize how important that consistency in shooting is, moreso than learning the fundamentals of shooting did.

But you can shoot tin/aluminum cans or plastic bottles up to 1 gallon in size. It's probably not as fun as shooting on private property or the desert or something, but it isn't paper either. It's above Saratoga on skyline blvd not too far from HWY 9. So pretty near San Jose. It's nice up there. Either that or if its starting to bore you, maybe take a break for a little bit? I'd love somewhere locally to shoot on private land or something, where I could rapid fire and maybe shoot steel or other fun targets. The tin can range is something different. It's 40 yards, though, so it is a pretty long shot for a handgun. The cans will dance a little, so that is a little more than a hole in paper. You can fill your targets with water. So I'd say its pretty cool. They have a trap range, too. So bring a shotgun. Cans and trap. It ain't paper.
At Rimfire Silhouette Pistol matchs....targets shot are @ 40, 50, 75 and 100 yards....off hand. Scope class or open class

If your looking for a challange...Try Silhouette shooting with open sights

One of my favorite targets to shoot at are Co2 Tanks. They last, sounds awesome when you nail them, and are easy to collect at the end of the day. I make the effort/drive to BLM lands, 100x more fun. I can't wait til fire season is over!

My other hobby is Tournament Paintball. Try shooting at someone shooting right back at you. It's a rush and challenge.

I make a trip once a month about an hour and a half each way to an outdoor range. We shoot at 100 yards. Targets include eggs, shaken soda cans, , coconuts, ,tomatoes, melons, golf balls, clays, water bottles, bottles of baby powder, and other produce. The reactive targets keep it interesting, and we create different contests for accuracy.
