Should I sell my 10/22?

So now that someone mentioned it: how does the Marlin 795 compare to the 10/22 (besides the plethora of after-market stuff for the 10/22 which alone might tip the scales in it's favor for many).

As for keeping the rail tight... hmmm.. too bad they don't make some kind of anaerobic thread locking compound. You know... something that goes on liquid and hardens in the absence of oxygen...

So now that someone mentioned it: how does the Marlin 795 compare to the 10/22 (besides the plethora of after-market stuff for the 10/22 which alone might tip the scales in it's favor for many).

I have a 10/22 and an M&P 15/22. My son has a 795. The 795 is a great, quick, accurate gun. Very light and handy. In fact, it almost seems too light to me, kind of like a toy. The 15/22 is a little heavier and feels like a "real" gun. Still light and handy, a very quick handling, accurate little plinker. My 10/22 has a scope and will shoot 5 shot groups under 3/8 of an inch with ammo it likes when I do my part.

They are all fun and serve a purpose. The 795 is an amazing value. Just make sure to Loctite the two screws that hold the action in the stock (Don't ask me how I know.) The 15/22 is just a bunch of fun if you like the AR platform, but it is a little pricey compared to the 795. The 10/22 can be whatever you want it to be. If you like to tinker, it will be the most expensive of the three. My scope and trigger combined cost more than twice as much as the rifle by itself and I want to make a few more changes to it. It isn't all that hard to have a $1000 10/22 if you add some upgrades but you can leave it stock, too.

If you don't have a 22 rifle, any of these would be a good choice. If money is tight, get the 795. If not, think about what you want out of the rifle and buy the one that gets you closest to what you want. Above all, have fun with it.

Everyone should have a 10/22 in their safe(s). Mine have six: mine, my son's, my daughter in law's, and my three grandkids (theirs have consecutive serial numbers). I will have to add another pink one soon, for my new granddaughter arriving in October.

I also have two blue and one pink Crickett rifles.

Thanks. Thanks to Chaos47 too. I have a 522 that is indeed a reasonably accurate and fun .22 LR plinker in an AR-style frame. It's been havoc on squirrels at a local ranch where the cattle rancher wants to keep the population down in his upper pastures. So I'll bite the bullet for a 10/22 and try to hide the cost of upgrades from the wife . I might get a Marlin for my daughters to use once they are weaned off the Mosquito pistol.
